Sure, that may happen, but it also sounds like that particular consumer is not educated with the invoice pricing. I'm sure many who are educated use the MSRP and the invoice price as a sort of range to work with. And that is not being unrealistic.

If price was always #1, Nordstroms, Louis Vuitton, Monster Cable, Apple, and others would be out of business.
Of course, it comes with service as well. Look at even Porsche. They stand behind their product and you can buy some models just a couple thousand over invoice and everyone's happy.
