thinking about trading....
From what I have read the AT is just as fast as the MT
I had two pretty fast MT's that I got rid of to get the G, zero regrets
The paddle shifters kick *** and are there when you choose to use them, but you can go really fast with very little thought in DS mode
Best of both worlds as I see it

Ok, You said automatics these days makes your car faster, now you are saying the AT is just as fast as the MT...I dont know what you been reading but for race applications its always better to have a MT for full control throughout the whole RPM range
Actually I said automatics are faster.
For the most part it's becoming true. The new GT-R is only available in automatic, for reasons obviously. The Porsche Turbo automatic is faster than the MT even though they are identical cars. Because of technology being put into autos these days, it's only a matter of time until all auto cars shift quicker than MT's. Ultimately a machine/computer communicating to shift gears will have more potential to shift quickly than any human.
Factor in inexperienced MT drivers (most of you out there are even if you think otherwise) versus a cookie cutter auto driver, the auto driver is 7/10 times going to win.

With the same driver? I'm not sure. Potentially yes. But I haven't seen enough evidence 0-60 or quarter mile in the G to support either. Have you?
Now with the other examples I gave. Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying.
Lets not turn this into myg37's first auto vs. MT thread. I'm stating facts in terms of technology, where it is currently at and where the potential is. BTW I drive a MT. Have for over 10 years. I'm not ignorant to think that just because I drive it, it's the best. It's just my preference.

Totally depends on the car. Some AT's wont hit the rev limiter and shift too early so they are slower than MT driven properly. I drove the G37S with paddles and they shift pretty quick but there is still som lag in between. I am very confident in a case like the GTR or soemthing in the catagory AT is faster because they know how to keep wheel spin to a minimum and they have it set up to perfrm at maximum efficiency and power. But 9 times out of 10 MT is faster if the driver is worth a shizzit.
Well, you may be right in Super car applications such as the Porsche and GT-R that you gave examples of because they actually spend that money to put that technology in there but for most cases and most cars out there today, the MT will be the quicker car...see what im saying? I also was aware that you drove an MT cuz i can read sig's believe it or not and ive have been driving MT's for over 10 years my friend and i do not show favoritism to the MT just because "i drive" one. Like i stated before, in most racing applications, its better to have a MT for the simple fact you have total control through the whole RPM range.........BTW good choice on picking the color of your G
Trickle down technology my friend. Where do you think it's coming from in the first place? Racing series F1, Cart, IRL etc. It's allready in a 70k GTR. We will be seeing it in 40k cars more often. IP all the way.
I'm no race fan by any means but I've never seen a MT in any type of dragster. Prolly has more to do with consistancy though.
BTW, I find the automatic in my G37 to be very inconsistent. Well, exept when I'm trying to cruise right at 30 mph...then it consistently hunts for what gear to be in.
sTiLLBaLLiN37...How does it work for trading in a leasing car? Do you have to pay for the penalty fee? Thanks

Huh? Enlighten me on that please....
help.....
