Mission: To get the best deal - a bit of a dillemma
I think I might be in deep do-do.
My local guy just emailed and said $200 over invoice for the car on his lot. It's AB, prem, nav, spoiler, graphite, splash guards.
Just when I thought it was over, he goes ahead and does this.
I was actually in the process of planning my trip to the out-of-state dealership too!
Thoughts?

Deals are somewhat final..
Got the final email from the local guy today...so:
Dealer 1: In the Boston area and got a great deal right off the bat. Close to invoice or invoice, depending on which number is being used to adjust the figure form last year. Obviously, I have to travel a bit (2 hrs) and make it a two-day affair with my baby boy and wife. Car has no nav. Doc fee is $298.
Dealer 2: Local, we actually live around the corner. $200 over invoice, doc fee is $349. Car has nav, guards. Obviously no traveling.
Car at Dealer 2 will be about $22 more per month in leasing, and taxes built into the payment, whereas car from dealer 1 I will have to pay taxes up front, and go register the car myself. Acquisition fee is $595, standard for Infiniti leases.
So now all I have to do is decide.
Help?

Wow you went all out!
Well If it was me Id go with the local one. Time is money IMO. buying locally will create a relationship for local service ...maybe that is...
IMO- 22 bucks a month aint that bad... And the car is going to have more options and "technically" nicer... I said Technically . I know your opinion on Navi...
But when It boils down to it in my eyes... Traveling sucks... and you dont wanna drive your G back... take a chance of not breaking it in right or running it at the same speed for miles on miles...
For you.. .When it comes down to your choice... if your happy thats all that matters...

I see two things going on here. Your local dealer started off unwilling to strike a deal. You are now in a position to screw over the dealer who actually gave you a good deal and ordered the vehicle, not charging you a deposit in good faith (Which actually, was pretty stupid on the dealer's part).
You can be slimy and go with the local slimy dealer, or you can do by something of your word and buy it from deal you already made, especially if these two deals end up being about the same (I didn't bother to look at the .zip).
Of course, what do I know ...

As for breaking in the car, I've done this before and I don't think this would ruin the car at all. The highway is probably much better than the city. I probably won't drive it in Boston.

As for being "slimy", you can make up anything about it, and that's your perspective, just like I can make up anything about it. I appreciate your perspective however, and it has been in the back of my mind. The good thing is that things change over time and the best deal might be local, but the right thing to do might be with Dealer 1, hence the dilemma.
You're right in that I would feel bad about the order, but feelings aside, I'm sure Dealer 1 can find another buyer. As for the deposit, I saw the sheet and it looks like they put an "authorization" on the CC, not an actual payment.

I would re-read your initial sales agreement. If you do decide to cancel your order, I'm almost positive your going to lose some if not all of your deposit. Thats what deposits are for.
