Email from Legacy Infiniti

Forgive me if someone already posted this. I checked my email yesterday and found about five of these emails from on of my local dealers here in Long Island:

Legacy Infinti has been chosen as the exclusive location for a market test. Due to fluctuating market conditions, corporate management has decided that the conventional manner in which deals have been negotiated must be reviewed. The parent company has determined, after much market research, that ONE PRICE Internet pricing is a method that must be tested. For five days only, you will be able to receive, hassle free, a price quote and monthly lease or finance payment with the click of your mouse. These internet only quotes will be the rock bottom prices with no negotiations necessary.

Corporate Management has decided to set the pricing structure for this event, pricing is usually determined at the dealership level. This is being done to not only test the effectiveness of ONE PRICE selling, but to lower the inventory surplus that exists due to slow January sales.

Simply click reply and complete the lower portion of this email. You will reply back to the sending address. You will quickly receive another email or phone call that includes the lowest possible selling price, which in most cases has been set below dealer invoice price! To facilitate quick response, please provide us with your phone number. Should you feel uncomfortable with doing so, we will be happy to accommodate you using email. Ends Monday night.

For additional information, call 866-444-0191, and ask for the Internet Department.
Time to bite?

Just a way to get you in to the dealer.. It will be anything but hassly free, might as well give it a go if you have a few hours to kill one day.

Figured as much. I doubt they'll be offering below invoice for any G37.

No wonder. You dont see offers like that in california. The best ive been offered is 500 over invoice. Still shopping but I may end up going for it.

It's just an e-mail, good 'ol fashioned marketing at its finest. I remember I got an e-mail from my local dealer saying they had been 'Authorized' to buy my trade-in for full KBB value.. I'm sure you can guess how well that went!! My car, KBB around $17 give or take, they wouldn't even offer me $13 (that was what CarMax offered).

Many in California have gotten invoice. Click "search", type "cali invoice".

I got mine in Nor Cal, below invoice. Just call the internet/sales managers and tell them a local dealer (name the dealer) is offering $500 below invoice. Once they bite (by matching or going below), use that number to shop around. Do not go in, that's how they wear you out. Make a list and start calling. Dealers are hurting this time of year.

These discussion always crack me up.

With 1-3% holdback there is 350 - 1,050 that is intended to be for local advertising and flooring, etc.

With about $3,500 between Invoice and MSRP plus the $1,050 there is aprox. 4K in it for the dealer.

Well, the dealer does need to make a living right? so what is the right amount of margine to allow the salesman (mine was a good guy actually) and the rest of the staff to make a living???

On a great car that you love near the 40K mark I figure you should have a $1,500 range you are comfortable with.

I was cool with Invoice to $1,500 above invoice which would have given the deal holdback + (0 - 1,500), and saved me between $3,500 - $2,000 off msrp.

A win - win really. I got lucky and got to $600 over invoice which saved me aprox $3,000 and gave the dealer holdback + 600 (950 - 1,700).

Just going for "under invoice" is likely to be frustrating and will definately tend toward confrontational transactions.

Buy it and don't look back. Enjoy it baby, just enjoy it.

There is nothing confrontational about emailing a dealer & telling them what kind of price you're looking for. Internet departments are very straight-forward about price, much less hassle to get a good deal. I just emailed them & said "name" got "$", I'd like the same deal.

I run the internet for my dealership which does compete w/ Legacy and other local dealers... it just gives that dealership a bad name and rep to send mailers out like that. Infiniti is aware of it as well since we always get mystery shopped and to see who actually sells the car or just sells over price.
