Question.
Specifically when a G37 arrives at a dealership, what is actually stock and what is added on top upon the customer's request?

Example:
If i am looking for a G37s, but i want navi with it... Does the dealership add the navi after the car arrives from the factory ? or is the navi pre-built into the car from the factory ? my question also extends out to other options as well.

I intend on asking for the dealer to replace the metallic trim with wood trim when I get my G37S this summer.

A few have tried this and have found it to be impossible or not cost effective with the sport package.

 

I seen it done on a G35 in a dealer showroom. They were charging either $495 or $595 as a deal add-on. Looked very very nice.

 

Navi is from the factory and not an added option from the dealer.

 

All the option packages (Tech, Navi, 4WAS, Sport) are all factory configured and installed. Stuff like splash guards can be added/spoilers etc. can be added.

You might be able to find someone who wants to swap.

 

I didn't like it at first sight either, spend some time with the Washi.. if your going for a sport look.. it will grow on you. I ended up prefering it.. it's unique to the G37. The only wood in this car should be between your legs... no offense to the ladies...

. so i guess if a dealer doesnt specifically mention navi on the car they have, chances are that i cant get them to add it on.. so i gota keep looking for one that has navi from factor. arrgh

 

Why would you want the dealer to add something on versus buying it packaged the way you want it? Availability issues? Are you going for a rare configuration?

 

yeah, what are you looking for? I can't imagine you can't find one with nav the way you want. Most are coming from the factory with nav and there are a LOT of these cars on dealer lots. Besides, let the dealer do the work. They'll find the car the way you want it.

 

Nav is not something easily added on. Its very pricey and requires you to change the LCD screen too + dealer labor which is around $100 hour. Much better to wait for something to come in.

 

Be sure it's not an applique on laid over the washi. I've heard it would cost over $1,000 to replace the washi with the real rosewood.

I've been on record that I would prefer the rosewood, but haven't seen a realistic price quoted.

 

The rosewood trim looks very nice, but there's no way to get it either with the sport package, or with the 6MT coupe.

I cant figure out why. Infiniti decides sporty cars cant look luxurious inside, maybe? Sigh. I almost got the G35 sedan with rosewood instead of my 6MT coupe because of this.
