49k? Are you in canada?

Anyways, if you gave them 45k, you'd be left with 4k+ taxes and all that jazz, paid off over whatever period you wanted, do it asap, especially with just 4k left on the car.

If you are in the USA, this price is WAY out of line. I'd say "put on the brakes" before you commit to anything. Tell us more: What city, what dealer, what does the sticker on the car say? There are plenty of folks here that can help with your decision, but you need to provide some pertinent details.

Don't do it!! Mine with everything you could get almost, 4was, prem, navi, 6mt was like 43,xxx then 500 off of that. Be careful my young friend they are taking you for a ride. This car should be at 46 out the dooor. Cash makes the world go round. Offer them 40K cash plus tax. Go from there. keep us updated nd GOOD LUCK!

cash makes no difference. they wold probably prefer you to finance, since they may make some money on the back end.

nah they want the cash up front. you'll always get a better deal with cash cause you're giving them the money IMMEDIATELY as opposed to over a 3-7 year period, if at all.

wrong. banks pay dealerships the entire amount of the loan up front...and sometimes give a kickback if they have a relationship with the dealer. the only people you are going to get a discount for cash are individuals selling their used vehicles.

edit: also, the best discount you are currently going to see is $500 off msrp.

i suggest you put that money slowly into a bank account. most dealers will not accept 45k in cash in a suitcase. also, if you do more than 10k as a single deposit into a bank, the bank will send all your info to the irs. and btw, the dealership will do the same if you attempt to pay them in cash.

This is completely incorrect info. In fact, dealerships would prefer you finance because they not only make the initial profit off the car, but they get a commission from the bank they finance you through. Either way, the dealership gets their money up front. It's the bank that you are making payments to.

note: basically everything speedracerg35 said.

Any salesman that sold a car for 45k in a suitcase would be fired for money laundering.
