Do you have to be in the military to qualify for one of there auto loans. I tried to become a member on their website and I do not meet their critieria. I kept looking for a link to apply for a loan and couldn't find one.

The way I understand it, you definitely have to be in the military or a family member to qualify for USAA.

Another option is Pentagon Federal Credit Union. They have similar restrictions but you can pay a $20 membership fee to be eligible. Their rate is 5.29%. Very close to the 4.99% USAA offers.

Is this what you did VJ? Thanks for the reply I will look into it. I was also going to try e-loan or lendingtree but don't know which is better. I don't want to make too many inquiries if buying new doesn't happen and decide to wait on getting a used car instead.

Right now I'm looking into them. I actually have to get moving because I might have my car sat or sometime next week. People here have used Pentagon Federal Credit Union and have said everything went smooth.

Also, all the inquiries you make within a 30-60 day period (not sure of the exact period) count as 1 since you are shopping around. That goes for mortgages too.

Your Welcome.

Glad I could help

Pentagon is VERY smooth. We have financed 5 cars thru them. The G37 will be #6.

Hey guys, looking at the Pentagon Federal Credit Union but how can you sign up online? I don't see anything about a $20 membership fee if your are not in the Army.

Go Here:
https://www.penfed.org/membershipApp...elig10.1.2.asp

In order to get those rates you have to join the NMFA and Pentagon Federal and pay a Membership fee to National Military Family Association (NMFA) of $20. I'm not sure if its a one time fee or yearly.

After you join then you are eligible.
