You were lucky. You could have payed the sales tax in both states if your timing wasn't right. Any time that you move to another State you must register the car in the new State, and they will hit you for their sales tax when you register the car.

Texas car sales tax

I live in Houston and just leased a new G37, thought you might be interested in knowing the sales tax rate on cars is less than the 8.25% applicable to other purchases in Houston area. By the way, if you trade in a car the amount you pay sales tax on is just the difference in value, new less trade in value I believe.

Love this G37 Coupe, traded in my 2003 G35 Coupe and what a huge difference in refinement, luxury, feels bigger and runs faster of course. I have an M45 Sport and this feels more like that car than the G35 Coupe I traded.

Heheheh. You're right (and I'm wrong). I left out one kernel of information. When I struck the deal with Coleman, I asked them to pick up the MD sales tax. I just remembered that. That's why I only had to pay MI sales tax. They had 71 FX's on the lot at the end of '04, they were practically begging for me to purchase it anyway.

Yeah, I was very pleasantly surprised about the car sales tax. I've purchased 3 cars in Texas and never knew the tax rate for cars was different. It was never an issue until the G37. hehe Ok, so John have you been holding out?? You have your new RED baby and you haven't said a word. Where are the pics???

No pics yet, not a pic kind of guy<G>

This car is great though. Major step up from my g35 coupe 2003 vintage. Larger, smoother, quieter and more luxurious yet plenty fast. Feels morelike my 2006 M45 sport than my old G35 coupe.

It looks great in Red however, my older coupe was also Red (wife picks the colors I pick the car<G>), but this red is bolder and less into an orange tone. Stone interior looks great on the Red too thank goodness, I was worried, had to have a sport which means stone or black interior. Wife doesnt like black with her red car<G>. The stone fits well with the alum dash tones.
