A heated steering wheel is one of those luxury items that becomes a necessity once you live with it.

ACC is one of those things. So are dishwashers. I was young once, LOL.

For a mod that gets used 2, maybe 3 months out of the year, I never would have imagined that a heated wheel would make such a difference. Granted, as mentioned before, my hands are shot so the benefits are slightly overstated, but I will never have another vehicle without one.

By ACC (technically, ASCD) I assume you are referring to ICC (Intelligent Cruise Control)? Unfortunately that I do not know. Per the FSM's the resistor values are slightly different. I know if it were me, and with used Q50/60 wheels getting cheaper by the day, I would give it a shot.

ACC = Adaptive Cruise Control. I suppose different manufactures use different names, but it's all the same thing. Set a cruise speed and a distance from cars in front of you, and let the car maintain speed and distance. It's a fantastic way to road trip on the highway. Add lane assist to the mix, and you're pretty close to self-driving.

Our family car (Subaru Forester) has these things, and they absolutely have to be in the next family car.

@ILM-NC G37S I guess you are right, Infiniti referred to it as ICC. But yeah @Rochester is spot on, both terms refer to the same feature. Pretty wild to me that this technology was offered back in '07 and it works flawlessly- so I'd hate to lose it. My G is seeing even more daily use with carting both my kids to my parents in the morning- and while I love my car, I find myself continuing to miss these creature comforts that our CRV has. There are times my eye wanders to something newer- but as evidenced in the "next car thread" on this site, anything that's a significant upgrade (assuming that 6MT continues to be a primary requirement) comes with a massive price premium (compounded by these terrible inflationary rates).

Welp time to keep an eye on the Q50/Q60 steering wheel market

They were way ahead of the times with HIDs and optional Navigation. Let's not forget the one option everyone wanted, HLSD.

Build Update:

It's been awhile, hope everyone has been doing well! I took a new role at work, and that's consumed a lot of my time/energy to work on mods and log it here. But I've still made some progress and some more things in the works! As a Christmas present, my father-in-law (retired auto body technician) repaired and painted my Blacktop Aero Spats from my old G. Install was fairly easy and we secured them with 3M tape and the OEM hardware in the front. Given that these were originally CF, we had to heat them up a decent bit to get the fitment as perfect as possible. Got the car cleaned up, enjoy some pics:

Absolutely love the 3/4 profile with the spats. They pair incredibly well with the AutoKitsX diffuser

Somehow I think these look even better in KH3 than my old KAD Sedan. I've been sitting on this mod since I purchased the car back in March '21, and and I'm so glad to finally have these installed. There aren't too many options for G Sedans. and Carbon Signal Diffuser/Spat combo while awesome makes the license plate looks like it's bent.

Took a quick morning shot of the side profile of the car after getting her all cleaned up. Really love how the spats compliment the aggressiveness of the front:

OEM Sport Front Lip, Sport Skirts, and Blacktop Aero "Kenstyle" Spats all flow very nicely together

Rear end feels "mostly" complete now. The only things I'd like to do is to get the trunk/spoiler re-painted (I scored these from a junkyard so there's some clear coat wear) and potentially add a brake light in the hole at the bottom of the AutoKits diffuser. But for now I have other priorities. Which speaking of...

I came across a member in one of the Facebook G Groups who had started taken on doing auto upholstery- in particular what sparked my interest was the following photo that he had done for a 2011 Limited Edition:

"Q50 inspired" stitching (which I'm not really a fan of), but that red is a near 100% match

I've had an extra set of door cards sitting in my basement from Junkyard diving back back in '21- so I shot him a message and sent the cards over to him. I opted for an "OEM" style stitch pattern as I didn't want any extra patterns on there- just clean, simple, and it had to match the red.

I've always been jealous of how the IPL Coupes s and of the F-Series BMWs got matching door card. The Monaco Red Seats have continued to be one of my favorite mods to both my original G and my current one- and this mod should lean into that more.

This inspired me to finally start working on wrapping the top of the door panels (I had extra from the junkyard for all four) in suede to match my dash:

Stripped the cheap feeling vinyl and was left with this foam piece.

Wrapped in suede and beginning to make trim cuts.

It'll be another time consuming project (part of why I've been procrastinating), but the end results will be so worth it. The guy is almost done making my new door cards, so I definitely need to get cracking on finishing these up.

The vision is: Suede tops, Red Door Cards, Brushed Black wrapped trim, and CF window controls. Should hopefully tie together for a luxury feel.

More to come!

I would love to find some rear "spats" hopefully one day.

On another note, Ive never been a fan of colored door cards. I really like the "just seats" accent it gives the entire interior. I painted my pillars which made the whole cabin feel "better" much more like an enclosure instead of the "head above water" feel the two tone interior give.

Man I haven't seen another set of these spats since '2018 when I picked them up in a FB Group post. I've seen some guys modify Subaru STi spats which gets close to the same look.

I can understand your perspective on the door cards. For me, all of my interior is blacked out so I'm hoping the cards will spice up the doors and tie everything together. I love how the Monaco Red interior of the New Q60s/IPL G37s Coupes had- hoping to replicate that.

Build Update:

Decided to tackle some maintenance since the last post. Noticed some leaking from the valve covers over the winter- so purchased some Mehle (OEM Supplier for Nissan) Valve Cover Gaskets and Durlast Oil Pan from the local Autozone. Shipped to my house for 20% off- score! Had my friend Connor tackle the install.

Relatively clean for a 17 year old car with 138K miles. You can see the leaking towards the bottom of the pic.

Replacement Mahle Gasket in. Notice the part # is identical to the official OEM part for a fraction of the cost.

Feels good to have some maintenance taken care of. Connor also fixed an annoying rattle I was experiencing with my Raceseng shifter. While in there he noticed the Cam and Crank sensors were browning a little bit- but that little bit of maintenance will have to wait till I can secure the parts.

In the meantime, Z1 has released Ecutek support for the HR engines. With 10% off for their spring sale- I decided to pull the trigger. After an initial hiccup (they canceled my order thinking I had an 07 Coupe Rev-Up which isn't supported), I was given free shipping and received my package two days after ordering. I ordered a Level 2 Package with the optional NATS delete. The Ecutek Bluetooth dongle + App made everything a breeze, I followed their instructions and sent over my ECU information within 20 minutes of the UPS delivery. Now I (anxiously) await their first tune file to be uploaded. I'm not chasing max hp with this build, but I'm hoping to optimize the combination of mods that I have.

I also have knocked out wrapped 3 out of 4 door panels in suede. Such a PITA. But the timing is good as my custom Monaco Red door cards are completed and should arrive Wednesday. I've also working on a few other (mostly cosmetic) items, but that will have to wait for another post. Making good progress!

Build Update:

A lot of exciting updates going on with the G! First up I am in the process of Remote Tuning the car with Ecutek an Z1 Motorsports. Initially I had planned on using UpRev, but I am SO GLAD I made the switch. Tuning with the Bluetooth Dongle is incredibly convenient- and the Z1 Customer Service has been pretty stout thus far (especially given that this is a new ECU platform for support). The initial Tune with NATS delete sent my car into Security mode, so I flashed it back to the stock tune. Z1 sent me a revision with no NATs-delete, and the car immediately started up. Weird- but we'll send the information to Ecutek and see if they can troubleshoot. Worst case I don't do the NATS delete.

The tune really woke the car up. Just more responsive in all the rev ranges, and such a joy to drive. Really wish I did this sooner. Sent over a few logs and had received another revision the next day. We're still smoothing out the cold idle (it revs to 2k for some reason on initial start- but it was doing this before the tune also) but overall I've really enjoyed the experience. Z1 asked me to send over some more logs this weekend as they think the primary O2 sensors might be failing- so I'll keep you all posted on it. But at least I don't have a CEL anymore for the secondary O2s!

Next I received my custom "Monaco Red" door cards. Very pleased with the quality of the work, and the red leather he sourced was a dead on match. I pulled the door panel out of the car and quickly swapped over the suede-wrapped tops and door cards. I'm in love:

So excited to see everything come together. Suede wrapped tops, 3M Brushed black, and Red door cards for an OEM+ look.

I was able to install both the Driver/Passenger fronts. I'm still working on suede wrapped the rears, but I'm very happy with the results. The suede tops help tie my dash together, and the red gives the doors some much needed contrast.

Before. Excuse the dirty sills, it's been raining all week.

After. Much more interesting. Eagle eyes will notice the blank button space on the door control (for JDM power fold). I need to have a regular USDM control CF overlaid and replaced.

Passenger side installed. I discovered that the part for the doorcard for 07-09 is slightly different at the bottom compared to the 2010+. Couldn't refuse all the screws but still was able to secure it tightly.

Cleaned up and all together. This is a rewarding place to be.

When I have time/motivation, I'll tackle the rears. I also will look into getting my front seats refreshed by my local Fibrenew guy- he did an amazing job doing bolster repair on my Nismo Jukes. I've done my best to care for the Monaco Reds since I bought them back in '17- but the previous owner put a ton of bolster wear on them. Would love to have them back to feeling new.

Lastly, I might have scored one of the last BNIB "Midnight Grilles" in the country on eBay (thanks to Circle Infiniti). Last year I had purchased iCrap's old grille (after unsuccessfully trying to get a new one from ConceptZ), and while in pretty good shape it had a few Knicks in the chrome that was hurting my OCD. I had set an eBay alert last year and it randomly went off and I had to get it- they only were selling two!

I'm a sucker from BNIB discontinued parts. Just so fresh and crispy!

Whew. Quite a bit completed this last week, and a few more projects to go. Got the car cleaned up this weekend and took a few pics. Enjoy!

Finally a warm enough day I could get her washed up. She needed it after wall the weird weather we've been having

These spats really fill out the rear.

Golden hour makes the carbon pop. Still can't wait to get these mostly color matched.

But like WHOLEY AND HOLY **** at the same damn time.

The combo of different textures and just slightly darker red really paid off. Amazing execution.

Apologies for the delays! Appreciate the kind words fellas. It's definitely been a journey- but so rewarding to see everything come together. Still have to do the rears, as it's been a bit crazy. But I'm super stoked with how the fronts came out.
