Layla's Build Log

Hey everyone, new member here. About to start the best journey of my life: modding my new G37 sedan - Layla!

This site is awesome...when I first decided to buy a G37 I was on here like every day for months...thanks to everyone who provided awesome pics and feedback.

So here it goes, first, I just bought her last week so I haven't upgraded anything yet but wanted to start my build thread so I can keep adding to it along the way and get everyone's feedback and opinion on what I might do next. I have never upgraded or added any mods to my previous vehicles (1991 pickup and 2005 Mazda 6) because I was a broke college kid and my first few jobs after college were pretty lousy. But that's all changed now and its time to take some pride in my new ride. So enough about me...lets start talking upgrades!

Here is a list of what I plan to do first:

1. Replace all interior lights with HID bulbs
2. Replace fog lights with either LED or HID (need to do research, i hate the stock bulb for my fog lights. Hate might be a strong word...but you all know what i mean)
3. Upgrade front grill to black and paint the Infiniti emblem red
- Also paint rear emblems red as well. (Going with a theme here...Red and Black like my UGA bulldogs!! haha)
4. Replace brakes....still need to do research but will make sure they come with red calipers to match my red emblems. (I think I said that right)
5. Replace rims after about 6 months since my tires came brand new when i bought it so i thought i would wear them down a bit before going out and spending mad $$$ on new tires/rims (my first choice is Schwert SC6 w/ black polish - crazy expensive i know...lol...that's if i can find someone that sells them in the South...otherwise still looking for some good 19's that looks good with OB...suggestions appreciated)
6. Upgrade Cold Air Intake and exhaust like NickyP suggested to me in another post.
7. Drop 1" after I move out of my current house (in approx 1 yr)...horrible lip on the front driveway right now.

Well there you have it. That's the start of my long but exciting journey. I will keep everyone posted with pics when I make my changes! Now here are some stock photos of Layla to keep you entertained.

Wow, quite the transformation, glad it worked out well and you found a good shop. Bet you love the way those tires grab the road and the wide, planted feel your car has now. Did you get it aligned yet?
Look forward to to more pics & details.

Sheesh. You made quite an impact with your first set of mods. Big thumbs up!!

Love the wheels. I wish I would've gone with springs earlier in my modding adventure. So I'm a tad jealous.

Why did you go with blank rotors? Just curious. If you plan on getting a big brake kit later on the calipers will look fantastic with some drilled and/or slotted rotors. Especially with Red. I have red accents as well. I went with annodized red BC I wanted to be a little unique.

I'm in for future updates, questions, and mods! Welcome to the site and congrats on your G!
