Talking Slate Blue Twin Turbo

Before I start to talk about how my trip went, I would like to tell you guys that i have not seen the build of this car and what it is all about. This car was bought brand new in 2008 by a fellow myG37 member and was fully built to the way the car sits now by him. The car now sits with twin turbos and looks immaculate. Greg has put in a lot of hard work and money into this amazing to car to make it preform, drive and look the way it does. This car is definitely one of a kind. Unfortunately he had to sell it as he had a kid on the way. Alex beat me to the car in July bought and had it shipped all the way to Chesapeake Virginia. Luckily he got a promotion and decided to upgrade to the granddaddy Nissan GTR I got a hold of him right away and told him I am going to buy this car. Luck was in favour. i got on the first flight I could get on to Norwalk Virginia on a Saturday afternoon. My flight left 530 pm pacific time from Vancouver. I arrived in Norwalk Sunday 9 am Easter time. Alex is a great friendly guy he picked me up from the airport. We drove to the car right away and just from a distance it caught my eye and I was just amazed at how the car really looked in person. Alex had the car prepped to go across the country with extra oil and coolant. So we shook hands and I tried to take off LOL. I am have never driven a car with a clutch that stiff before it was a work out for sure, I felt like I had learn how to drive a standard car all over again. Sorry for the crude grammar I was blogging this all on my iPhone.

Since I have left Chesapeake I have now driven 80.8 miles I needed to stop at the rest stop so I decided to check the oil and coolant levels oil is just under the second dimple and coolant is still at max fuel economy 80.8 miles and the needle is just under 3 quarters could because I’m excited about all this power and am not able to keep my foot of the pedal I filled up gas at the nearest shell and took off.

Decided to stop at the south mountain rest stop in Maryland to get some water I have driven 163.2 miles from a full tank needle is in between 3 quarters and half checked the oil it was good coolant was a minimum mark I topped off to max not sure why it went down everything is running normal

Pulled over at a McDonalds to grab a bite to eat checked coolant and oil both seem to be good now temperature has dropped to 58F getting chilly out I got 283 miles out of a half tank filled up a full tank again

Pulled into the first rest stop as soon as you cross the toll road into Ohio old turnpike checked all fluids everything is at the same level I checked last car is running perfect *knock on wood* going to make the last leg of the journey to Cleveland and call it a night 628mi end of first day

Finally stopped in Hampshire Illinoi to fill up after leaving Toledo Ohio driving a total of 335.3 miles filled up at a BP since I can't find a shell off the highway check coolant still at max and green checked the oil still below the dimple but the oil has changed into a darker golden colour I have now driven a total of 969.9 miles the car also now has a total mileage of 48888

I spent the night in Austin Minnesota I got 339 miles out of my full tank from bop checked the levels before going to sleep oil level was still good coolant had moved a little bit but could have been because the car was on a slant. The following morning I decided to go to shell to fill up gas the palm says premium so after feeling a little tank the guy then decides to tell me they only have regular now I am panicking thinking what's going to happen I quickly ran to the AutoZone bought some Lucas octane booster added it into my tank and just to be on the safe side I am trying my best to not give too much throttle I hope I make it to the next gas stop fine.

Stopped at a shell in oacoma South Dakota car did 329 miles on regular gas plus Lucas octane booster. I added stp fuel injector cleaner plus 91 octane sadly no 93 here I have now driven a total of 1633.1 miles

Stopped at a Shell in Gillet Wyoming got 349.3 miles to the tank with the treatment i just filled up with octane booster again. Only 91 octane here I checked oil and coolant levels they are both sitting where they should be

decided to call it a night in Hardin Montana give the car a rest. On the way over here I was going about a 100mph trying to get to my hotel quick the red bull was wearing off and it would have taken forever going 80mph driving that fast kept the rpm's around 4000 kept a close eye on the coolant temperature and oil temperature went up too about 186*F

It was really chilly this morning my TMPS light came on (so I thought) checked the fluid levels everything was okay I drove billings had breakfast filled up at a CONOCO added octane booster just in case 239.7 miles I have no driven a total of 2222.1 miles

237.5 miles after going through the Montana mountains had half a tank decided to fill up didn't know when the next gas station was going to come up I put in Exxon with octane booster again they had 91 checked all fluid levels everything is nominal

Another 212.5 miles of driving in the mountains really worked the car decided to stop at the rest stop just before entering Idaho checked the fluids they both look good surprisingly for all the hills i still average 212.5 and just above half

294.4 miles to the tank just crossed into Washington state an Audi r8 tried to pick a race well that ended really quick left him in the dust. last stretch almost home to Canada

I made it to Lynnwood Washington 346.4 miles to the tank i picked up the car title stayed for the day had a little fun with car I was hoping to meet up with Greg (original owner) but no luck

Finally the car is into Canada feels great being back home the car did wonderfully with no issues EXCEPT my front tires inner camber completely killed the tires I was driving on the steel belt who knows how long it’s been like that (now I know why my TMPS light was on) all in all engine turbos no issues never ran hot didn't burn a single drop if oil. This definitely was the great American road trip!

So lets talk about the performance aspect of the car now!

Performance Modifications

GTM Stage 1 Turbo Kit (best option for the street - tons of useable power)
Ceramic coated manifolds and turbines
External wastegates
Twin Tial BOV's
GTM 3" Stainless Dual Turbo-Back Exhaust
34 Row Oil Cooler
HKS-EVC Electronic Boost Controller
Blitz R-Vits Monitoring System
OS Giken Twin Plate Clutch
RJM Clutch Pedal Adjusting Bracket (makes engagement smooth & light)
All Metal Z-Speed CSC
TWM Short Shifter TWM Short Shifter

Eibach front and rear sway bars
G35 Front A-Arms
Volk VR G2 Formula Silver Wheels - 20x9 / 20x10
Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires - 245 / 285

So the first thing i decided to change are the coilovers. I decided that air suspension was my best bet for roads here in vancouver bc.
I have ordered accuair managment and airrex struts for the car and will be installing when the weather gets better at home. hope all goes well
I do love my rims and tires but i am just not able to put all the power.
i am thinking of going with vossens cv3's yes i know they are played out but i just love the 5 spoke but i plan on going
285/25/20Front 305/25/20Rear
i really wanted the toyo 888 but they don't make my sizes Might just go with some nittos or pirelli corsa system tires

Appearance

Authentic Infiniti IPL Side Skirts
Custom painted front grill, emblems and rear valence
Illuminated door sills
Foot well lighting
Premium front and rear floor mats
Illuminated Door Sills

To power all these bad boys
2 Alpine PDX-F4's

Subwoofer
1 RE Audio XXX12V2D2

To Power this bad boy
2 Alpine PDX-M12

Power & Wire Distribution

I am very excited for this build it will truly be how i always wanted my G to be. I had all this planned with my first G but sadly it got written of no thanks to a undercover police officer But i got a second chance with this one! hope you guys enjoy the build sorry for making this post super long! Cheers

Now I remember your car and the cool stories that went with it

Everything going on w/ your G is just right, wouldn't change a thing (especially those wheels!!) The airex should be a nice plan, look forward to that one.

You've listed a few names on your build, what's yours, lol??
Thanks for posting this, truly an inspiration.
