G37 Rebuild

Greetings to all. Just bought a 2010 G37X - Journey model - 27K miles
I love to fix cars. This will be my first import. I am definitely up for the challenge! My brother used to own a G35X, he just crossed over to the 335i. When I saw the G37 come across the line, I had to have it.

My intention with this thread is to bring you along for the ride from bringing this car back to life. There have already been some pretty interesting developments, I'll do my best to give you a good narrative!

Feel free to bring your comments, experiences, and pics of your G37 to the thread!

"...bringing this car back to life."

what's wrong with it? What needs to be done to it? How are you planning on doing it?

Just picked the car up last Saturday. This dealership grinds Ford Fusions, Chevy Malibu's, Ford F-150's through like an assembly line. Bringing an import through seems to stop time........
The damage to this car is light to say the least. Airbags good, runs, drives, juice to the battery, you name it. I'm about 90% someone backed into the car while it was parked.
The only light showing on the dash when the car is started is the check engine soon light. No other alerts/codes gone wrong. Nothing.
The frame is not tweaked at all.
To make things better, I was able to find a front clip, same year, same color. Worst case scenario, bolt the bitch on and buff down and match paint. Won't have to repaint insides of fenders/hood/bumper.
Going to be fun.

Is that blue slate? I still can't tell apart all the darker colors of the G.

Ouch. That was definately more then somebody just backing into it. It looks like a lot of body work but from the pics, looks to be nothing crazy.

Blue slate is correct. As far as damage goes....I rebuilt a Cadillac sts two years ago that was backed into that looked about the same- only the frame was a little bit worse. Both vehicles had good bags and windshields weren't cracked.......those are our main indicators of an easy wreck.
With this car I think the only reason the fenders are missing is to make sure if they got tweaked back it wouldn't affect opening the doors. The passenger side frame mounts in too and bottom are untouched. So light that they didn't have to take the inner liners out to keep from rubbing the tires.

Just got the word that the front clip may be in tomorrow. Just my luck I found a blue slate front clip.
Funny how I can't get at tshirt shipped within 5 business days. But I can get 1/4 of a car in three.

Front clipis in - found it at I-80 auto parts out of Gary, Indiana. Ordered Monday- arrived Thursday. For the most part it looks good. Have a scuff on the front bumper to work out, drivers side headlight is pushed back a couple hairs as well. ****ers could have been a little more gentle with radiator hoses, going to have to order one..........So yeah.
