AnotherVQ being built

I picked up my 2012 G37s Sedan in October 2019 with about 82k miles, with a clean title, in very nice condition. It came with some mods already installed.

Full list of mods at time of purchase:
  • Ferrada FR2 19x8.5 +35 & 19x9.5 +40
  • Continental ExtremeContact Sport 235/40/19 & 255/40/19
  • Lowered on BC-Racing BR Coilovers
  • Cusco Strut Bar
  • Carbon Fiber Spoiler
  • Hallbuilt Performance Exhaust (3" with 4.5" burnt tip) single exit
  • Tinted windows
  • Blacked-out grille
  • Tinted tail-lights
  • WeatherTech Rainguards
  • Chrome-deleted window trim
  • Full WeatherTech floor mats
  • GT-R Start Button
  • Ground projected Infiniti logo in front doors
I lost the original images but these are from Instagram, taken just days after purchase:

I have many plans for this build and will follow-up when changes are made.

The first thing I did was upgrade some of the lighting in early November 2019. I didn't upgrade the headlights yet because I have bigger plans for those.

I also put on a white silicone license plate frame some time before the light upgrades:

In May 2020 I upgraded to the Carsmo *****.

My clock doesn't illuminate I plan to fix that even though I think the addition of the clock was stupid to begin with. The illumination rounds out the overall look of the interior.

In August 2020 I switched out the stock cats and the HallBuilt Performance single exit for Fast Intentions Resonated High Flow Cats and the Stillen Catback.

Cold Start: https://i.imgur.com/cluqwm8.mp4

Rev: https://i.imgur.com/DcBJrS2.mp4

I also measured the exhaust before and after the switch. I went by the standards of California but the rev limiter is limited to 4500 RPM while not in drive, so I couldn't rev it as high as they mandate there. I don't know what they do in that situation. Measurements were taken in an area without wind, with no surfaces in a 10 feet radius from the car. Mic placed no closer than 8" from the ground, parallel to the ground, centered to the exhaust outlet, backed up 20" from the outlet and angled at a 45 degree angle.

  • The stock cats with the single exit measured 112.3 dB(A) at 4500 RPM.
  • The FI RHFC and Stillen Catback measured 101.5 dB(A) at 4500 RPM.

The setup is exactly what I was going for. The setup it had on it was definitely fun (especially under freeways), but it was too loud on cold start and made so much noise from the garage throughout the house. It also got a bit exhausting having a constant, loud hum when driving around. It's not that it sounded bad, I just prefer something less noisy. The new setup gets loud when RPMs are high but is (relative to the old setup I had) pretty quiet otherwise. It's louder than stock and sounds better, but not really really loud.

In August 2020 I also restored my headlights. I am going to get custom headlights but I was tired of how unclear they were so I took care of it.

Yeah, I was looking for white. It's pretty hot where I live. I'm going to wrap it but it'll be in another kind of white.

I've seen yours too and have talked you you in the comments. Just a different username

Well, I'm keeping those names separate so I can't release that. I plan on intakes and grille next.

We got a double agent. lol.

planning to keep it simple with the intakes and do a 2.5" or going with 3" and tune? looking forward to your updates.

My other account is somewhat known, and unrelated to car stuff.

I was originally thinking admin intake (before buying car) but I think I'll go with stillen to save some money and get it to my door powder coated to go with the color scheme I'm going for. Will probably be getting tune either way. When I say "save some money" I mean the cost of intake plus cost of larger throttle bodies.

I'm not looking to break records or anything major. Just a few changes to performance and a few changes to visuals.

Yesterday (9/27/20) I put in GT-R Spark Plugs gapped to 0.30", changed throttle body gaskets, cleaned throttle bodies and cleaned MAF sensors.

New intakes soon.
