Me and fire do not mix well. Others more experienced may chime in on the benefits of using a torch.
When I joined the USAF in 95 the backyard mechanic go-to (and many pro mechanics) was acetone/ATF mix or PB-Blaster.

The USAF (and all FAA-rated passenger aircraft) only allows AeroKroil. Just due to shop availability, I've been using Kroil for 27 years now. Bought my last can in 2008 still have over half.

I thought I had some Kroil but couldn't find it. I can picture the burnt orange can...unless i am thinking of something else.

I managed to get 6 of the 8 bolts removed. I ended up stripping one out with my impact and the other one was already rusted to the point that a socket would not even grab it. I am taking it up Thursday to a guy I know at a body shop. He thinks he can remove them pretty quickly. Curious to see what he does. For the ones I did manage to remove, I replaced with new ones as I got them out.

And the saga continues.... The guy at the body shop will probably use lots of heat and few swear words. In my experience, the heat accomplishes more than the swear words.

Arthur,

Was researching this same part rust problem and had concerns it was welded into a larger subframe. Glad to hear its just bolted on. Strange thing is the 2011 FSM only shows three bolts per side. Gonna have to crawl underneath and verify number before ordering. How did the job turn out? Really like the idea of holding the part in place with new bolts till all the old ones are removed.

Misread the FSM figure - it does show four bolts per side. Need stronger reading glasses.

If you haven't bought a replacement brace, I have a good condition one in Atlanta, but i can ship also.

I'm asking $200 + shipping
