Rear Brake Pads Wearing Unevenly

Did my rear brake pads 5 months ago - I installed CarQuest Gold ceramic pads. Was going to do my front pads as well, but they had and still do have plenty of meat on them. Did a tire rotation today, my mechanic showed me very uneven wear on rear pads - right side (passenger) was wearing out much faster than left (driver). Probably the caliper sticking, so I am going to replace both rear calipers, and add stainless steel rear lines. Has anybody experienced this? Any recommendations on calipers? Rockauto has plenty of weather-coated options....but big price diff. Thanks!

No need to replace the entire caliper. Its most likely just the pins. You need to clean them up and use brake grease on the slide points.

If you're doing all that, depending what you drive you may as well do a big brake upgrade if you don't have it already. Definitely worth giving everything a clean and lube to see if that fixes it before you throw a bunch of money at it.

Yes, I'll give the pins a look. I have a tendency to throw parts at an issue, especially if I can DIY it. I'll start small and give the brakes a lube and new pads, see if that works. I am also going to check the temps of my rotors this afternoon, although that would just confirm what we already saw with the wear. Thanks for the advice!

If you've got the base model floaters, yeah check the pins.
This will only help if the inside and outside pads are wearing unevenly.
I read it as your driver side versus passenger side pads are wearing at different rates.
This is entirely possible with "intelligent" traction control. Braking one corner or another. Do you see your slip light a lot when you're jamming around town? I know I do!

Um yeah. I do not baby this car - those HFC's and intake noises at 4-6k rpm still really gives me a thrill. I am used to seeing that slip light...Changing the pads this week and greasing the pins, see if that helps...I'll post pics of the worn pads..

Make sure to clean out the old (and sticky) grease on the pins and inside the caliper pin holes.

Then use a black moly grease to lightly grease the pins and pin holes. This grease has a VERY long life, doesn't dry out and turn sticky and resists water.
