Fitting 17” Wheels on G37S rear

Hi all,

I have done some searching but cant find a clear answer.

What rear calipers can i use on my G37S to allow 17” wheels to fit?

The big brakes it comes with hit the inside of the 17s i have.

I have 17”, 18”, and 19” spare drift wheels but I get ALOT of deals on 17” tires more often, some even free which is nice considering how many tires i go through.

At the moment i have a stock pile of 17” tires i cant even use because the wheels dont clear the calipers.

I know alot of you may say why am i downgrading but to me it makes alot of sense considering 17” tires are easier and cheaper to come by, also they are easier to spin when drifting considering i dont have any major power upgrades.

I think it would depend on the wheel. I threw on a pair of 17" TE37s on the rear, so I know those barrels clear at least. That being said, the TEs have a pretty large amount of brake clearance for a wheel and I doubt you're using those as a drift spare haha.

i already have 17” stocks which i got for free. I just want to replace my rear calipers/rotors so the 17’s clear.

i just dont know which calipers would work for my car. I found a 350z part out and a g35 part out, i could get the calipers/rotors from either but im not aure which one will work on my car

Maybe i can take my caliper off and go to the part out car and see if my caliper bolts up to the part out car. If mine bolts up to it, the its caliper should work on mine right?

i might just take that route.

After hours of reading online it sounds like only g37/370z base calipers will bolt onto my car. Gonna order calipers from a base g37 on ebay. If the dont fir at least i can return them on ebay.

You don't change calipers to make wheels fit. You change the wheels to fit the calipers.

You are possibly right, in my case i feel swapping the calipers is easier are less of a guess. Also cheaper

if i decide to find wheels that clear the caliper, i have to start a hunt for wheels. And they will cost more than the calipers i think. Also i dont know if they clear until i buy them, how many would i have to buy and return before i find the right wheel?

I ended up buying base model g37 calipers and rotors. Bolted right up. I can now fit my 17” wheels and use all the 17” tires i have laying around.

gonna slide so easy on 17’s

I think they are Akebono brakes but yes i removed them only on the rear so i can fit 17” drift spares

i know, seems like a step backward to remove the nice sport brakes, but i go through at least 4 sets of tires a month for the rear, sometimes more.

replacing 17” tires is alot cheaper than replacing 18/19” tires.

plus i still have the akebonos whenever i feel like throwing them back on i could.

Make a bracket for the back and throw on another factory caliper for a full hydro setup. You know you want to.
