2011 g37xS humming/vibrating noise starting at 40mph and above

Hey everyone,

I'm new to Infinitis, I've always had Hondas and Subarus so Nissan/Infiniti is a little new to me. I just bought a used 2011 g37xS with 100k miles for a good price but due to having some sort of issues that the dealership (Chevy) didn't want to fix.

I've dealt with the brakes and rotors but can't get rid of one thing. While driving and when I hit 40mph and above, you hear like a humming/vibrating noise coming from the front driver side. The good thing is that the car is not actually vibrating, it is just the annoying noise.
I went to a shop and they stated that the hub bearing had no play so I couldn't be that or just the tires needing to be changed. The tires have about 6 months of life so I'm curious to know if that could really be it but they mentioned that the hub bearing could probably help as well... Have any of you ever hit this issue with this car?

Overall, I'm impressed with this car. I should have grabbed this back then instead of my WRX haha but now I need an automatic tranny for the family. Thanks in advance!

Could be bearing despite shop statement; could be CV joint starting to go; could be bad tire (test by swapping to other side and see if humming moves with it).

My passenger side bearing was bad and didn't have any play in the wheel and no vibration. It's best to replace both sides at that point.

I've had tires that sounded like a bad wheel bearing many times. When cupping occurs on a tire it sounds like a wheel bearing. Look for cupping on your tires. Cupping is usually caused by bad shocks but can also be caused by cheap / defective tires. Note when my bearing went bad on my 2009XS the radial and axial runout was in spec (measured with dial indicator) but it was still noisy. When I replaced it the old bearing felt "gritty" but tight. I suspect if I would have kept driving then there would have been play as it continued to wear.

Have replaced wheel bearings recently on an 08 outback (notorious for eating bearings) and in both cases there was no play - just noise.

Thanks everyone! Just as most of you said... it was the wheel hub bearings that was causingall
the noise. Replaced them, with the rotors and brakes. Now it is smooth sailing! Thanks everyone again!
