370z Eibach Springs on G37 Coupe

370z Eibach Springs on G37 Coupe

Forum,

I have a great deal on 370z springs. Was wondering if anyone has tried them on the Rwd coupe or have any knowledge in regards to this.


I did search on the forums but didn't get the specific answer I'm looking for.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

The springs will physically fit w/ your OEM shocks, as far as how much drop to expect and how they would ride (since there is quite a bit more weight w/ your coupe)that's something I haven't found

^^^This. I was thinking the same thing about the weight...if they fit properly I am betting that it will sit much lower because the spring rate would be designed for a lighter car. That is my guess

Maybe not. Though I have ridden only in a 260Z (MANY years ago), I suspect the spring rate is higher due to the sporty nature of the car. If it does lower a G, I bet it's because of the way the spring is wound. That's my guess.

Research indicates roughly 300 pound difference in curb weights between 370Z and G37 coupe. 54/46 weight distribution puts 162 pounds on the front end, half that on each corner, so 81 pounds more per spring. Standard 370Z spring is 392 lb/in. That should give a tad less than 1/4" drop due to weight difference. If there's a larger drop, it's due to the way the spring is wound. I can't find free height for either car's spring. I'll see if someone in the classifieds can measure their stock springs.

More work to do.

Edit -- whoops, forgot about motion ratio. It's in the neighborhood of 2:1, so double the drop, making closer to half-an-inch.

This is for OE springs, not the Eibachs that OP wondered about.

Eibach shows the same P/N for the 370Z Coupe Pro-kit and the G-37 Sedan RWD Pro-kit. They indicate just under a one inch drop for the Z and ~1.5 inch drop for the sedan. There's that half-inch weight difference I calculated above. They don't indicate any spring dimensions so I have no idea of the spring rate. Obviously the Pro-kit's are wound differently than the OE spring or they use narrower wire.

So, for VelisG37, your 370Z springs are the springs you would get from Eibach if you ordered them for your G. Put 'em on and honor us with a report.
