$4 easy way to stop spacer vibrations
$4 easy way to stop spacer vibrations
Hey just thought this could help a few people.
I bought a set of Ichiba of spacers.
I had a slight Vibrations going above 65.
Since these are hub centric rims I figured I just need the hubs to fit better in the rims. Below is the solution I came up with.
Follow the steps below and this should help the vibrations.
1. I bought some Metal Repair tape at autopart store ( I got mine at Pepboys For $3.95)

2.Remove wheel where I believed there was the most vibration, and removed the hub ring and place it in center hub of the rim, to see how loose it is.There was almost no play but you don't want any play. It needs to be a snug fit. If your hub ring is loose fitting in your spacers you can follow these steps just put it on the hub ring its self to make a tight fit in your spacer.
If you don't have Removable hub rings you can take off your spacers and placed it back on the rim to see how much play there was between the hub and the rim.
OR if you don't want to take your spacers you can just skip the removal of the spacers and just follow the rest of the steps and hope the first layer of tape is good enough.( Sorry no pics on this part did not think of making this till I was on my 3rd wheel.)
3. Clean off your spacer Hub so the tape will stick better ( I just used some cleaning wipes.). Than Dry it off with a paper towel.
4. Cut 5 strips of the metal Tape about 3/8in long. Enough so that when you place it on the hub it will extend over the hub
(Sorry no pics of the strips)

5. Place the strips on the hub so it hangs over a little. Its ok to overlap a little on the previous piece till it is wrapped all the way around the hub.

6.Fold over the excess tape hanging over the hub, and make sure to smooth the tape with your fingers as smooth and flat as you can. You want the fold over so the rims doesn't pull up the tape if it is a tight fit.
Your hub should look like almost like it did when you started.

7. While you have your tires off its a good time to check to make sure your lugs are tight.
(If you are having a lot of vibration you may need to do a couple of layers of the tape so repeat step 3-6)
8. Put on the wheel and your all done!!
I decided to just go ahead and put this tape on all the spacers' hubs just to make sure. So I just repeated step 3-8on the rest of all my spacers
I took my car up to 85 and no Vibrations
.
I hope this help anyone with the same issue.
sorry if the pic aren't showing up. not sure whats going on. I put them below also.
