Coilovers and Tires all at once?
Coilovers and Tires all at once?
Seeking some forum expertise. I just got my KW v3 coilovers last week, and I think I may be due for some new tires - thinking either super sports or s.drives. Does it make more sense to put both on at the same time and get the alignment, or is there a suspension settling period that you should have between the installs, in which case, what order should you do them in?
Oh, and I did get the SPC/Eibach front and rear camber kits, so I've got that covered even though the SPCs breaking thread has me a little worried.

When you install camber kits along with coilovers, your alignment will likely be pretty far off. You should wait at least a few days to a week for the new parts to settle before making final adjustments to even out your height. If it were me, I'd do this on the old tires becasue you will be causing accelerated wear on them while it's our of alignment during the settling period. Probably not a ton, but some. Get the new tires after alignment, then get it rechecked. I believe that most places will realign it for free if it's off during a short period, check their warranty.
SPC alignment parts are solid and very rarely break. I wouldn't be worried.
Also if you are choosing between those 2 tires there's absolutely no comparison between the S.Drives and the PSS. I've had both. The PSS costs much more but is a far, far better tire in every way. IMO well worth the difference in price.

The above way is probably the way you should do it.
With that said....I did not do it this way.
The day I got my coils put on, I had it aligned and new PSS put on. Reason for doing this, was that my toe was WAY off and it shredded the oem bridgestones, so I needed new tires desperately. After 3 weeks, I had the height readjusted due to coils settling. I then took it and had the alignment rechecked. The place I took it to for the tires/alignment didn't charge me because it was within 30 days of the original alignment. It only took them 25 minutes to realign it and I was done.
Most places have a 30 day garuntee on the alignments. I would say its up to you how you want to do it. BB and MM(haha like dat?) are giving great advice and again is probably the right way to do it to save time.
