I recently bought 4 used RE050A 245/40R19 (94W) tires (all are 90%+ thread measured it myself) off Ebay and this forum. but one of the tires that came in was not the one I order (off ebay who would of guessed ) instead it is a RE050A 245/40ZR19 (94Y). My question is should I even mount this or hassle with the user to return it (It will be very inconvenient).

From what I know these tires are identical with the exception that the 94Y just has a higher speed rating and also its OD is .1" bigger then the 245/40R19 (94W) which is well within tolerance.

 

I would imagine that you should be ok. The speed rating won't have any effect. I have run tires with different speed ratings with no ill effect. Not as high a performance as those tires, but shouldn't make a difference.

 

You may feel a slight difference in stiffness and steering response from front to back by mixing them. There are also many oem versions of that tire in that size (M35/45, G37, Pontiac, etc) so slight differences in compound and tread design are also possible.

 

Thanks guys for the help. I think I feel confident enough to get the tires mounted now. My G won't see any track time at least for the life of these tires so I should be safe
