Hello everyone!

First post on myg37; I am glad to join the community. I took a lot of info from you guys and I appreciate your input about mods for our G37s; thank you.

As for my car, I bought my black on black 010' G37S Coupe back in April 2010. Made a few mods since then including the Tein S-Tech springs, some SPC front camber kits and SPC rear camber&toe arms.

Today, I am writing about this particular mod. I've had the car realigned to fit almost stock settings, which is what I wanted. I expected a stiffer and more nervous ride, which is totally normal and acceptable to me. I used to drive a dropped Prelude which was actually lower than my G37 at the moment...

Sure, the car looks GREAT right now and I'm loving the new looks.

However, I am getting VERY bad ride quality right now. I will try to explain the best way I can the way that it feels... The rear of the car feels like its swaying from side to side like crazy when I hit the smallest bumps! My old prelude was 4WS and I would almost compare it to feeling the wheels ''turn'' a little bit in the rear...

Furthermore, the ride quality on a wet surface has dropped DRAMATICALLY. Once again, the rear of the car just bounces around and feels like its totally out of control as it hits the smallest bump or uneven surface on the highway. And we arent talking about hydroplaning here...

I told my mechanic about it and he had that ''Just screwing bolts around'' attitude, as if he put the springs and camber kits with little to no adjustments, plug and play type of deal.

I also want to mention that I always drive around with the traction control set to OFF (VCD thing...).

I am writing here because I don't understand why my ride quality is so bad. I have read multiple times that the S-Tech ride quality was not too bouncy. I agree that my judgement may differ from these guys but my current ride quality is totally unacceptable; it just seems so obvious to me. I think I would have difficulty selling the car right now if I was doing such a thing...

I'm riding on s techs and the ride isn't that bad. Something's wrong

 

you may have installed the springs incorrectly, causing the spring to be bend or crooked resulting in a bounce and wobble. I'd take a look at the springs and make sure they're straight thru out.

 

Teins, especially S-Techs, are probably the WORST springs you can put on. They aren't made for the G37 and therefore cannot support the extra weight well

 

As I said I'm driving on them just fine. Maybe he didn't cut the rubber bump that you're supposed to cut? So the spring doesn't sit on it causing a bouncy ride

 

If you think S-Techs are fine try out any other spring specifically made for the G37 and you'll be like wow this is soooooo much better. I said the same thing after my H-Techs/S-Techs.

 

I've ridden in a stock G and the ride was smoother, but not by that much. I agree that the ride of the s techs isn't the best. But it's defiantly not to the point where it's annoying. Ive drivin with my mom in the car and she didn't complain. I even rode another memer in the car and there on coilovers. They also

Rubber stoppers? lol I left mine intact and the ride isn't like what OP described; it rides fairly decent for springs made for G35's.

 

Ya theres a rubber piece that you need to cut in half, thats what my installer said, and the instruction manuel said the same. If you dont you will ride on the rubber piece and have a more bouncy ride than you should. He said its common for installers not to cut this piece, thus why so many people hate on springs.

 

I still have the manual and it actually says not to cut the rubber piece.

 

OP try to drive around with the VCD on to see if there is any change. I agree with others maybe your installer did something wrong or like others stated those springs weren't made for the G37 specs.

 

I would have to say the spring is not seated properly, or is upside down

Well, I usually don't mess around and I'm already annoyed by this.

So I'm gonna go for the easy fix, new mechanic and new Tein Coilovers. Bam. Voilą. Basically, I went for the S-tech springs + camber kits because I was not looking for so much adjustability in ride height and stiffness. But now that this is getting complicated and that my mechanic is not being cooperative, I'm changing my strategy.

I'm looking for an aggressive street setup but nothing too serious about taking it to the track...

Dunno if I should go for the TEIN coilovers now... Some say the Super Streets are too soft... Flex perhaps?

I think the S-Techs are perfect for the G. Barely worse than stock ride quality, great drop, handles better for what $150? To the guys who say these springs are ****, CMON quit being pu**ies I came from a dumped 350Z on coils set to moderately stiff. The G with S-Techs feels like a Lexus in comparison lol
