Costco f'd up my rims

yep. $850 for michelin pilot sport a/s plus's and i come out to see the edge of 3 of the 4 wheels like this. then the service advisor has the ***** to tell me that i shouldnt be complaining because its such a small amount of damage. **** that **** im so pissed off.. i gotta get an estimate to find out how much itll cost to fix before costco will do anything about it. anyone have any experience with wheel repair? also will this show up on carfax or something that it was repaired? i know its a small thing but theyre not perfect anymore, ive kept this car absolutely mint since day one and to see stuff like that it really bothers me. please excuse the moto droid pic i hope you can see what im talking about

I would have told that service advisor to go to hell! It don't matter how small or big that scuff is, the point is that they damaged it! Make sure they pay for that! And no, I don't think something like that goes on a carfax.

costco service is on par with pep boys ..so it's expected they mess something up.. the damage is tiny, if you can get money for it great, if not it's an excuse to buy some new rims

Thats not the point. He paid for a service and the service was not up to par, they messed up his wheel/s. No matter how small or how large they are responsible for the damages.

OP: The only way it will show up on a carfax is if you file a claim through your insurance Co.

Take them to small claims court if they don't pay and look into alloy wheel repair services to see what it would cost to fix.

You brought your car to Costco? LOL Next time, buy the tires there if it's a great deal, but pay a real shop to install them.

Having the morons who work at Costco install your tires is like having the bozos who work at Jiffy Lube detail your car. I wouldn't expect the job done right in either situation.

BTW, if that picture is the worse damage, you have little chance recovering even a dime. Even in small claims court, you'd need to have a really sympathetic judge. More likely he'll throw your case out of court based on those pictures.

It'll cost maybe 100 bucks at the most to get all your wheels fixed to look like new.

Costco??? I don't know how much it's going to cost to get your wheels fixed but don't go to those kind of places for work on your car if you care about it so much. That includes simple things like an oil change.

in hindsight it was a bad idea to save a few bucks but ive learned my lesson. like Dipstix6996 said, they did screw up my wheels and they should be responsible for it no matter how small it is. i have better pictures on my real camera ill post later. thanks for all the info everyone, i appreciate it

TireRack and their installers only for me.
Get a written repair estimate and Costco will probably cut a check, or at worst cut the check when you present a receipt that the repair was done.
On the bright side, if that is the worst that ever happens to your ride, no worries!

you cant possible be serious... one day a grain of sand will hit your rim and make a bigger chip.

and just because you pay 3x more at a more expensive auto store, doesnt mean they wont screw your **** up. everyone is capable of making mistakes.

If the manager had owned up to it and apologized upfront I would have called you the a$$hole for actually pursuing money for something like this. It really is minuscule.

BUT. After he was told you what to feel about the situation and was an a$$hole himself, I hope you get all the money you can for the wheels.
