Sway Bar opinions
Sway Bar opinions
My newly acquired 08 G37S Coupe has some red aftermarket sways that only have 2 adjustment holes in the rear and only 1 in the front(Not sure the brand).
I am considering getting real sway bars that have more adjust-ability, as I am a former Porsche Cayman S owner and improved handling is my # 1 priority with this G37. Can anyone provide feedback as to which sway bars I should consider and why? Yes, I have read tons of threads on the topic but none that stated why I should consider one brand over another.
My priorities are as follows:
Quality (Strength)
Performance (Stiffness)
Adjust-ability options
Weight (lightness)
Thanks!

Well, I am about to purchase as well and it seems you may actaully have the Eibach sways currently which are one of the better. (They are red and the other red Sways are Stillen but Stillen's should be 3 way adjustable in the rear and even more adjustable up front).
It seems as though Eibach and Hotchkis are rated the best as far as stiffness
All three options (Stillen, Eibach, Hotchkis) will be very durable and most likely the same material but also about the same weight which is better then stock but if you are already running Stillen or Eibach then I wouldn't expect reduction.
Adjustability: I think Stillen gives the most options at 5 way front and 3 way rear as advertised but Hotchkis is 3 way front and 3 rear. Eibach is 2 way front and I believe 3 way rear.
Basically, I think the front runners of sways for our car are Hotchkis and Eibach as they provide more stiffness the Stillen which is ulitmately what matters when considering sways as none of the options negatively affect ride quality too much... I would say wait for those to respond that have each but I am sure you will hear nothing bad about Eibach or Hotchkis so it is somewhat of a moot point.
I would try to figure out what you currently have a bit more on there as if it is Stillen then maybe an upgrade is possible, but if this is Eibach then I am not sure you will see much of a difference if you go to Hotchkis but it would be an interesting trial for the rest of us as I doubt any have had both.
Keep us or at least me posted on this as I am a click away from placing the order and I was leaning towards the full Eibach kit (I say full kit because Eibach does sell just a rear sway separately which is another option that you may only have so possibly just completing the set may be what you are looking for as well).
Hope this helps but I am in no way an expert on this and I am sure there are others on here that will hopefully chime in, this is just currently where I am at with my knowledge and ready to buy as well. And I wanted to actually give you more of an answer to your question......

I am a little perplexed because the ones I have appear to have 2 holes in the rear sway bar and only one in the front. I only looked at them briefly when it was on the rack at Infiniti being inspected prior to me purchasing the car. I hope to get a better look under the care this weekend. I will let you know what I find.

All kidding aside. After much research, I went with Hotchkis.
Hotcchkis has the stiffest front bar, with no adjustability, I didnt see the need to adjust a weaker bar. You need all the front bar you can get with a G37,
That being said, understeer has been eliminated.
The Hotchkis has a rear with 3 positions, to adjust for oversteer. (read add oversteer)
Without aftermarket springs the stiffest position is neutral/ With Eibachs, the middle position is neutral, the high position kicks the rears out very easily.
They are hollow, so weight is not a factor, they are lighter than the factory S sway bars.
To the other poster, there is nothing wrong with their urethane bushings, the brackets come with grease fittings, and I lube them every 3 months with teflon lube.
I beleive the Eibach bars are matched to their springs, so its a no brainer.
I wouldnt consider Stillen, as they are too close to factory S bars.
Lastly does a Million mile warranty really ever come into play??

I put the hotchkis on my saloon 2wks ago and tracked it hard on Thursday. Not sure how they "compare" to others...but man what a difference. I'd recommend the Hotchkis to anyone looking to upgrade their bars with a huge improvement.

He probably has the Stillens. The Eibachs have 2 settings in the front and 3 in the rear and was one of the main selling points for me. Stillen is non adjustable for the front which is also the same for the Hotchkis set with no front adjustability aswell. In terms of body roll, any of these sway sets will make a noticeable difference to the handling of the car and I think its one of the best upgrades--I can corner harder and more predictably.
Stillen reuses the existing rubber bushings.
Eibach-- closer, does anyone actually change their adjustments or dial in less up front
Hotchkis - Do the job nicely, Right angled zerks on the bushings can be lubed by turning the wheels.. no need to jack and remove cover to lube. Perfect for the lazy SOB's.
