TPMS? a must have?

when you buy new rims, is it necessary that you pay another 3-400$ to have the tpms installed? i dont trust the tpms anyways.

Everything will work fine without them. However you will get a low tire pressure warning light on the dash that you cannot make go away unless you have a working TPMS in each wheel. And Chekov will post in your thread telling you how essential that they are and how much you really need to have them because you can't tell by looking how low your tire is and they make driving much safer.

If you will be transferring your set from your OEM wheels to the new wheels it shouldn't cost you anything to have them installed.

And if you are buying new ones, they are $149.85 a piece (I just had to buy a new one cause one of mine was broken)

If you can deal with the light being on the dash then don't bother.. If you are **** about stuff like that then spend the $300..

Older cars don't even have them... just some luxury item. I grew up looking and checking the pressure myself.

I don't need them... that low pressure light I got use to seeing also. lol

The light bothered the crap out of me. Bad. I guess that's just my personality. So I got the adapters to make them work with my wheels.

I transferred them onto my aftermarket wheels but still check the pressure every second or third fill-up since it's a habit. And it's good to know that your tires have the proper psi.

Well thanks for echoing my position accurately. But I’m really weary of the issue so you’ll get nothing further from me in this thread. The OP has been around long enough to search for the many opinions previously expressed on this subject.

Guys, I've said this before and I'll say it again--- if you want to ditch your pressure sensors (for whatever reason) and you're annoyed by the light on the dash, it is easy to ground one wire to keep that light out. I've done it on other cars, but not yet on the G. I'd only need a schematic for the TPMS and I could tell you exactly which wire to ground.

I'm sure there's lots of folks who'd be grateful if you did this. Need the FSM?

Yeah, just the one wiring schematic on the TPMS. That's all I need to figure out how to make the light go out. Do you have a pdf?
