What to do, what to do?!?
What to do, what to do?!? (or Damaged Wheels; eff Sam)
Well as some of you probably remember, my 4Runner took a dump on me right in the middle of the worst snow and ice of the year. So I had to drive my G for a week, and ended up sliding off the road and running up onto a curb, damaging my rims pretty badly. Last week, I bought a new set of 19's from Jnguyen (awesome guy, great seller). Unfortunately, the packaging guy at his UPS Store was completely incompetent and unwrapped the wheels before putting them on the truck.
So now I have my original set of badly damaged 19's, and his set of slightly shipping-damaged (scratched/dinged/chipped) 19's. The UPS Store will just deny any responsibility, so he and I have agreed to split the cost of repair (like I said, great guy). But now I'm considering taking both sets of wheels to my local wheel repair shop, repairing the 4 that are least damaged and will come out cheapest, and then doing something cool to the 4 that are most damaged.
So what do you guys think will look best on a Blue Slate? I think dark wheels (black, gunmetal, etc) look bad on BS. So I want to keep it light in color, but I can't come up with any ideas. What have people done to stock 19's without powdercoating them black or gunmetal?!?

yea I agree. I'm not a fan of powder coated stock 19's myself. I would fix your new wheels and sell the stocks
Not much you can do with them IMO that would look good on BS.
wait...are the new wheels stock too?

i would go for aftermarkets... but considering you already bought jnguyens... you might as well mess with them since that was the route you were planning on going anyways... i guess go with gloss black

Andrew i say you should do Blue Slate with a red pinstripe lip
haha that would look pretty hot. Gunmetal with Red pinstripe haha. IDk some reason i think a Time Attack would look good on the blue slate but if your looking for just a solid color. I guess Gunmetal cause i dont think you see the spokes as well in black cause it blends with the tire but tha just my Opinion
Thanks to a great buyer for being so understandable that ups are moron and to work it out with me so quickly. I dont get why the guy unpack to weigh it and say he put it back in even though usually you suppose to weigh with the box too?

idk. This is how i packed it. I cut a cardboard box from my store into four circles to cover up the rim part. I put news paper around the wheels and tape it then i stuck it in these box that we get at my store for customers. Tape it up.
I brought it there and he like yeah this is heavy. it might not fit on the scale so he starts to open and he pulls it out and put on the scale. At this point im like "hey are you going to put the wheels back in the box". He says "yeah dont worry about it man, i just took it out cause it wont fit on the scale". I pay for it and etc and i see him lay them back in the box but not tape it back up so i left and went on my way to work cause i was late. I told Andrew a ahead of time that if something to were happen then message me. Which he did and he told me there were some light scratches trhat look that can be buff out and some small dings. Then we work things out so yeah. I would have took the wheels back and bring back to UPS but there was no way i could actually win if i had no proof from what the delievery guy told andrew

Holy crap that was fast!!! I literally hit "send" on my e-mail to Jnguyen, and then opened up this forum page so I could upload the pictures, and before I could even get there he had already posted them!! And I thought I was good with computers...
Anyway, without seeing the wheels at all, a very reputable local wheel repair specialist (www.wheeldoctorohio.com) quoted me $85-$125 per wheel over the phone. But after inspecting the damage a little bit closer, I think most of it could be buffed out. There are only a few spots that will need to be filled in and repainted.
So what do you guys think? How much should we be looking at for repairs here?
