Sportlines or Pro Kit

I'm having a tough time deciding between the Sportlines and the Pro Kit.. Basically trying to decide if I want to go lower with the Sportlines.. I used to have Sportlines on an Eclipse a few years back and really like the lower look. I do think that the G37 is too high, especially in the front.

What do you think? Any ideas on what you are going to do when lowering?

unless they take too long.. then i might pick up some springs temporarily. not sure which ones i'd go with either, though.

I wouldn't hold my breath for the Tein coilovers. Those ride like crap no matter which version you get. Maybe Bilstein will come out with some for the G37.

Not even sure if Eibach will do Sportlines yet ... the last I heard, they only prototyped the Pro-kit on a forum member's car.

I'm satisfied with the Pro-Kit on my car. I hardly scrape the front lip. The few times that I have ... I can say that it was my fault for not being careful.

Guess I'm just getting too old to be driving around slammed!

They only prototyped the Pro-Kit after SEMA. Even though the part numbers have been reserved, I'd be surprised if either is really available yet. It usually takes a while to ramp up production.

You could always try out the Sportlines first and see if you like them. If not, I'm sure someone here would be more than happy to take them off your hands.

If you do the Pro-Kit first ... you'll always be wondering ...

Personally, I'd like to maintain as much "driveability" as I can if it were my $40K+ car, especially if it is my daily driver.

not sure which tein coil overs you have experience with, but i have sampled pretty much every coil over they produce and none ride like crap when set up correctly. now the problem is most people get coil overs and think they are suspension gurus and **** with all the settings un balancing the car. thats where you run into problems with an ill handleing car. When tuned right they are on par with every other coil over system on the market. in any case because nothing was aval at the moment i went with tein s techs for the g35. love the drop but will be replaceing with full coils when they are released...

I wouldn't do either without also installing a properly matched shock/strut combo. The Eibach spring rates are likely much higher than the stock dampers. Ride height and looks are not worth a sacrifice in ride quality.

I've had Eibachs on many cars and the ride has been better than stock. There is one person on here that has the Pro Kit installed and likes the ride quality. I had Bilstein Coilovers on my STi and they were great.. but just don't feel like shelling out $2100 right now.

Actually, most lowering spring manufacturers use non-linear rate springs to maintain ride quality. In these designs, the spring rate goes up as the spring is compressed.

Exactly, but the stock shocks were not intended to dampen at that rate. Their range of motion is cut in half at best and ride will suffer which is why it's important to have shocks that are valved properly to match the spring rates. I had the prokit with Bilsteins on an f-body that I daily drove for over 5 years. The ride was harsh and punishing. The off the shelf Bilsteins are stock replacements intended to work with the stock springs and as a result were ill-fitting. I ended up putting the stock springs back on with a set of Koni adjustables. Night and day difference. Stranoparts can do custom revalves for almost any application I believe...
