G37 rwd sedan seeking strut tower recommendation

I recently installed Z1 S-Pro coilovers on my 2013 G37 Journey sedan. I replaced the oem front and rear sway bar with stiffer z1 sway bars, along with replacing the bushings and reinforcing with collar braces. The last two mods I’m eyeing are to add a strut tower brace and upgrade wheels.

any recommendations on what to look for in the strut tower brace? Also it seems Cusco and Redline are the only brands that offer a product for the sedan. Can I use the ones for coupes if I remove the engine cover? Expert recommendations from the community would be greatly appreciated. Thanks I’m advance.

Strut bars are the same for the coupe and sedan.

I like the one piece version like the Aultec or Ultra Racing. But for the most part, it'll all be the same, especially if the car is mostly street driven.

thanks! I assumed as much and picked up a Megan racing tower for $80. I’ll use the funds saved towards wheels!

+1 for the Megan Racing strut tower brace. Install was a breeze, has held up well and has never vibrated against the hood.

looks great! Do you have some more photos of your install, specifically on the passenger side? Did you have to cut the cables that were zip tied to make room? Thanks in advance

That Megan Racing bar looks identical to the old GTSpec FSTB. Same bar, same brackets, but with a badge on it.

Some things I learned over the years...
.
  1. Most FSTB will rub on the noise reduction panel under the hood. You can remove that panel if you want, it doesn't do much of anything.
  2. Aftermarket engine mounts can lower the engine geometry and give you more clearance for your FSTB.
  3. Powdercoat your FSTB brackets (or the bar itself) to the color you want before installing it.
  4. When mounting the bar to the brackets, place a folded towel on the engine cover for even height clearance, and to not scratch things.
  5. Titanium hardware on the brackets looks a lot better than whatever comes with it.
  6. Handing benefits with a FSTB are very real, but also very minimal. Go into it with lowered expectations that you have sharper steering during quick, low speed maneuvers, like at Auto-X.
  7. I believe all FSTB will have the same impact, making your choice more about aesthetics than functionality.

Rochester brings up some good points. This is also the Megan strut bar... points 3 and 5 represented.

I also made a custom bubble sticker to hide the holes after removing the Megan badge.

Sorry. Missed this question. Did not need to move anything. Getting a wrench on that side is a little tight and you need to be careful with those small 10mm bolts as they want to strip really easily, but other than that easy peazy.

It's adjustable, so no rubbing. Combined with front and rear power braces from Cusco, urethane diff bushings, correct wheel spacing, stickiest summer tires you can afford, lowering and alignment specs on the more aggressive side of the OEM specs for the coupe, the handling has transformed and the ride quality is still better than a stock 370Z.

I have bump steer as most do when lowered, and I plan to install adjustable tie rode ends when I install another set of OEM Tokico sport struts/shocks (only available on Amayama) later this year.

Love the custom emblem. How hard are they to make as I can send you 10 people on Reddit driving around without one (pet peeve of mine).

Also, where do I find those Mercedes-like caps to go over the access port to the struts? Now that I've seen these, that hole will always look unfinished to me.

Here's an OEM version made of rubber that even looks nice: https://www.ebay.com/p/1011294962

Did the Z or another FM platform car come with these?

Thanks!! A few years back, I was selling those emblems like crazy (there should be some old posts on here). They were called "N8s Plates"... until I got a letter from Nissan USA through eBay after they closed down my listings. Since eBay was where I was selling 90% of them, I folded. I figured I didn't have what it took to fight Nissan lol. I still have the design files and can easily make more. And the min production qty is low, like 3 or 4.

In the pic, the emblem is anodized gold, but the one currently on the car is powder coated gold to match my other parts.

The strut port... I just used these "caps":
Amazon Amazon

It is hard to tell, but I have black/gold interference vinyl in the center of those chrome caps.

You should try selling on Etsy (creative) vs. eBay (commerce). Maybe write "VQ37VHR" on the emblem to keep the logo police from getting their panties in a bunch?

Also, do the Amazon caps you linked to snap into place, or did you need adhesive?

I thought about Etsy, but starting over as far as feedback / reputation didn't sound fun.

The caps to snap in... they may be a little loose. I wrapped some electrical tape around the prongs to make the fit tighter.

Great little mod. Surprised that these chrome strut caps are nearly a perfect fit! Would likely vibrate without electrical tap around a few of the prongs.

And they're inexpensive! They look great in your engine bay!
