Calling all IPL owners with aftermarket suspensions
I want to drop my IPL but try to retain the stock ride quality. What suspension does everyone have on their IPL’s and how do you like it? I am leaning towards Swift springs on stock dampers but also contemplating coilovers. I know suspension threads are dime a dozen but I can’t seem to find much on IPL suspension threads. Thanks for the help.

The suspension is basically the same on the IPLs so any info on regular coupes applies for IPLs as well. For a budget set Tein Basis Z coilovers will get you the exact drop you want and ride closer to stock vs. other coilover sets although they can be a bit too soft for some. For a more performance oriented setup the KWv1 is a quality setup but dampers aren't adjustable (The Tein Basis are set form the factory too), the KwV3 is the adjustable version in the KW line but will set you back at least $1800. You should also consider the rear camber/toe kit and if you drop more than 1.25 to 1.5" the front camber arms should be added as well.

Contact user Splitter if you're interested in a used set of KW V3 coil-overs. He's not posted an ad yet but they're for sale.
Be aware that dropped cars with stock-ish spring rates (that stock ride you mention) will start hitting hard parts on the road and driveways unless you slow down a lot more than you normally would. I installed coil-overs less than two months ago with 10k/8k rates (a little stiffer than stock and spec'ed for the lighter 370Z) and have smacked the front subframe on the road four times now. Ride height is only an inch lower.

MeisterR. They are not bouncy until I run too much damping, like at the track. Currently at 24 of 36 F/R and the ride is as good as stock. As for the hitting, that's because the car is too low for the spring rate. It hits the road before it hits the bump stops. I have the rear as high as it will go (see my review) and the front at the appropriate height to match the rear. My only option is to increase the spring rate.
