Need help selecting rack and pinion assembly

My power steering leaks out of the end seals and I go through a quart of fluid every 4-6 months. Since I plan on keeping this car for some time I will fix it.

The car is a 2009 G37XS sedan with about 110k miles.

I'm a little confused when seeing the options on Rock Auto

Main question w/ EVO orifice or without?

I'm not sure if all sedans have this and I can move it from old to new or if only some cars have it.

Some other variables are w/wo 18" wheels although i'm not sure the rack and pinion was different with wheel size. There's also some kind of difference with pre and post 5/1/2009 cars although I'm not sure what the difference is.

Has anyone gone through this before?

Thanks,
Brian

whatever you do dont get a used one, I bought an used one from a 2012 g37xs and it only lasted me 1 year and now its leaking again, you can try a refurbish one and get some of the cost back if you send yours in. I know we can do that in Montreal.

This made me wonder...If you have to replace the rack, is it possible to upgrade it to the sport rack with the quicker steering ratio or is that more involved?

EVO is the "electronically variable orifice" that allows variable effort power steering. To see if you have it, look for a connector with 2 small wires going to the power steering rack where the steering shaft connects to the rack. I think all G37s have them.

If you want the sport rack, you will also need to change the power steering pump and the power steering controller.

I would go to https://parts.infinitiusa.com and get your actual part number and search Rock auto with it.

Good Luck

Thanks guys. I ended up connecting with an infiniti mechanic on justanswer.com and he used my VIN. I ended up needing the one that is before the cutoff in 2009. Ordered from rockauto for about $250. Will need to move the EVO from the old unit to the new unit. I suspect the guy on justanswer.com did the same thing that SonicVQ mentioned since he provided me with a link to that website.

I'm not really looking forward to doing to replacement but I need new tires and an alignment anyway so now is the time to do it.
