Wow that's a lot of money. My advice is to find a reputable shop, get the pads and rotors yourself (or just pads) and let them do the work if you don't have a place or means to do it yourself. Brakes are fairly straightforward so a shop would really have to be incompetent to screw it up. I have the larger akebono brakes, I bought stoptech drilled rotors and centric ceramic pads all for under 250$ (front only) and I cannot be happier, virtually zero fade under decent braking and very little dust. In your case, I'd probably just get some good pads and have a shop resurface the rotors since it seems like they haven't been resurfaced yet. Shop on tirerack.com, their search function yeilds very good options, then copy and paste the part number into amazon, eBay, or even Google and you may save a few bucks as well.

$1100 doesn't sound right. I was told by my local dealer that brake jobs were about $300 "per axle" (this agrees with the coupons I see online for other Socal dealers), which according to him meant $300 for the front and $300 for the rear (technically, there are 4 axles?). He also told me that the same price is offered for sport and non sport models. In addition, he mentioned that I shouldn't need to look at the Sport model brakes till around 40k. At that point, pads and resurfacing are all that's needed. Lastly, he said that the rotors can normally be resurfaced twice in this manner before requiring replacement. I've been going to the same dealer/service writer since I owned my 04 G, see he's no spring chicken. Odd that another dealer would quote such a variance as this should be standard maintenance work.

Good post^^^
Unfortunately some shops are much more aggressive than others as far as trying to take advantage of customers that don't know what the job costs, or customers that just assume the dealer won't be dishonest.

I want to believe that your assumption isn't correct and that there must be a miscommunication of some sort....maybe that's that Californian in me :-)

The dealer (Tobin Infiniti in Las Vegas, NV) that sold me our 2nd G sold it to me as new, turns out I was the second owner, and wasn't revealed to me until I ran a Carfax on it after our G was in an accident to see if it had been reported. So yep, dealers can pull all kinds of things, just need to be on guard.
