Adding/Top off brake fluid
Adding/Top off brake fluid
Noob question here but I just want to be absolutely positive before doing anything. I have the VDC and slip lights coming on and it seems that my brake fluid is low after looking at it. I bought the Valvoline Dot3 & 4 brake fluid from Pepboys. I am unsure as to what brake fluid is in my system, I just usually take it to the Infiniti Service Center. Can I simply just top it off with the Valvoline Dot3 & 4 Brake fluid? If not, what should I do?
Thanks in advance.

You'll be fine topping it off. However, there is likely a reason the level went down. Your pads (front and/or rear) are likely worn. Next time you have the tires rotated, have them report how much pad material is left.
Is the level slightly low or significantly low? Pic maybe?

Straight from the manual buddy, "Genuine NISSAN Super Heavy Duty Brake Fluid*8
or equivalent DOT 3 (US FMVSS No. 116)". Brake fluid doesn't just disappears, definitely check your pads. The more you add the more you gotta bleed when you change your brake pads so it doesn't overflow and pour out.
