I have the NISMO pads, and yeah, they dust.

Out of curiosity, where does the box say the rotors were made?

Edit: doesn't the IPL have the optional R-Spec pads as standard? I thought the NISMOs are the same pads?

Haha, don't worry they'll still rust all over just like normal rotors

Those are so beautiful. I felt my rotors and they feel fine (usually there is a lip at the top indicating that the surface is wearing down). I don't want to buy them now, but I am getting them for 63.49 for each of them. I worry that this deal won't last. Especially if someone finds out about them. I don't know why they are such a great deal (even lower than the non-sport ones) but I don't want to argue.

The IPL comes with the same pads as the Sport model.

No box per se for the Z1 rotors, just the shipping box. They get their rotors directly from the manufacturer and apparently skip the middle man.

How are the Nismo pads in the wet? I heard the Stiptechs lost a lot of feel in the wet which is why I ditched them.

Lol I figured. Maybe they'll look good for a month or two. I almost ordered them unassembled to have the hats coated in a different color as my wheels are black and they blend in. OCD. In the end, too much time and work.

For what it's worth, my Z1 rotors look like this:

I got enough heat into them that the coating burned off. Lol.

And the dust from the Stoptech pads - this is from about 2 weeks worth of driving (~1,000 miles).

Fronts. They look fantastic behind the wheels.

Dumb question, but are they on the correct way?

The slots on mine run backwards is all, the top is the front edge, not the bottom

You know, I may have them on backwards...really depends on the internal vane configuration, slot direction doesn't matter. I need to find out. If I have them on backwards, I know what I'm doing next weekend. Grr.

Edit: Going by Z1's photos, they're curved vanes so they should sweep backwards. You'd have to feel inside the disk void to see which side is concave and which is convex..

I'm curious to know, I would expect the internal vane and exterior slotting to be in the same relative direction for the drilled and non-drilled versions of the rotors, but I suppose it's quite possible that they are not.

The internal vanes are on quite an angle, you can see the vane direction quite clearly when you look in to the rotor, simple when you have a wheel off.

Assuming they assembled my disks the same way, if you look at the photo on Z1's page, you can see the internal vanes are the opposite direction of the slots. From what Z1 was saying on the 370Z forum, unless you have brake ducts, it doesn't matter but the way I have them forces air through them from the outside in which is what they were saying to do. I think if you had brake ducts, you'd want them the other way.

I'm going to do a bit more research. I had an AP Racing big brake kit on another car and I do remember there was a left and right rotor (they were slotted) but it's been a while and I can't remember which way I had the vanes directed on them.

I'll ask Z1 directly as well.

Edit: Doing a bit more research, the curved vanes should point backwards on the outside of the disk. Slot direction doesn't matter. Looks like mine are on backwards.

That's the one. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

On a positive note, now you've done it once, swapping the rotors shouldn't take more than an hour car on the ground to car on the ground.

No worries I'm actually glad you brought it to my attention. I should know better.

And yeah it won't take long as I won't be cleaning parts. I went pretty slow with the first disk and I had a fellow forum member come over and brave the cold temps with me for a few hours (thanks Mo!). I think I did the rears in a bit over an hour tops.

I have to replace a part on one of the rear rotors regardless as one of the rear brake rotor hats came in with some gouges/scratches. I didn't notice until I retrieved the rotor out of the bag. I'd already done the other side, wheel on and all, so I went ahead and put it on. Z1's sending out a new hat and hardware.
