Brake Vibration in 2013 G37?

I test drove a 2013 G37x today (23K miles) and noticed a subtle vibration in the brake pedal, almost like road feelor the subtle activation of ABS. It was a very weird feeling. Braking was capable and under heavy pressure the feeling went away. But braking from a coast towards a light, I felt it pretty consistently. In the past, there were threads about this being an issue with the brake pads and rotors. How did others resolve this issue? Will this be an issue for long-term reliability?

More than likely there's uneven pad deposits on the rotors, this is common and pretty easy to resolve. A scrub of the rotors (several strong braking cycles from 60-10 mph and not coming to a stop) should show an improvement. If that doesn't work the rotor runout would be an issue and should be corrected w/ machining of the rotors as long as they are in spec for thickness.

Just wanted to let you know that you were dead on about the rotors. Told the dealer, they fixed it, and I test drove it again. Issue was gone. Now, I just have decide whether I want to buy it.

Glad it was an easy fix. That happens a lot to cars that sit on a dealer's lot when it rains. The steel rotors will rust and then you have to brake hard a number of times to "scrub" the rotors.

I just did this thinking my rotors were worped. Did a bunch of 60-10 stops, and it does feel a lot better already.

Glad I came across this. Thanks again...

When these rotors go, I'm going bbk. The oems bbk clear the 17s right?

No, the OEM BBKs are huge, even some 20s won't clear those fatties You'd need at least the OEM 18" sport wheels.

OEM 18" will not clear BBK, I've tried.

Which OEM 18s are you talking about? I was referring to the 18s that come on the BBK equipped S Sedans. Also the 18s that come on the AWD X"S" sedans will clear too.

Those will clear the BBK? I was referring to the ones the coupe's come with, (2008 Journey) - any other applicable years the coupe comes with the standard OEM 18's

Sadly Nissan rotors kind of blow. My rotors warped at 32k, full brake job problem solved. Exact same symptoms. Nearing 32k again, and like clockwork, the same warped rotor feel as before. Since the pads still have some life I'm just sucking it up until they give out and I'll get another brake job. Rinse and repeat. I could probably go with another manufacturer but as long as I get 30k per job, it's manageable given I really like the car. Further to a couple other people's comments, the rotors do have a tendency to rust requiring a hard brake or two to shake off if not driven in 48-72 hrs, but even with that I wasn't able to replicate the brake shudder. It's not a liability, just an annoyance. Good on you bringing it up with the dealer, luckily it's limited to the brakes which are a maintenance item (unless the car's been rebuilt and has something f'ed with the suspension). good luck

this is the sedan section so any 18" sport rims would refer to the staggered 18" 'duckfeet' sedan rims which do indeed clear the OEM Akebonos. these rims came on all RWD S sedans (6MT or 7AT), which also came with the Akebonos.
