Break (aka Brake) Pad Replacement?
Break (aka Brake) Pad Replacement?
Hello Everyone,
I have 2012 G37xS Coupe.
Recently my Infiniti dealer told me my front break pads needs to be replaced. This will be the first replacement since buying the G37 brand new. The dealer said it was down to 4mm and they normally recommend it be replaced at 3mm (which they recommend to be done at the next oil change).
Is this true or can I wait a little longer? If not true, at what Xmm do I need to replace the break pads at?
Thank you all in advance.

What's a break pad? Is that when you pad your hours during break?
If you're not talking about taking breaks but rather brakes that stop your car, then 3mm would probably be a good time to change them out. Did they show you just how much material was left or just wrote a number on the sheet?
How many miles on the car, type of driving? This would also be a good time to have the brake fluid flushed.

Yes, you guys are right. In the process of rushing earlier, I typed break instead of brake...the correct spelling is "Brake" indeed. Thanks for rubbing it in you guys...lol.
Well, the dealer just wrote the number on a paper and did not show me. I guess I can ask them to show me during the next oil change and confirm it is indeed close to 3mm by then.
My driving style is mostly highway and not much hard driving or braking. The car currently has 53,000 miles.

Jsolo you're an azz rofl
You're comments made me laugh lol
Give the man a BRAKE!
As for changing brake pads it really is an easy task to do otherwise take it to any local shop to do it for you and I promise they'll charge you a fraction of what the dealership will.
Also you could just keep riding on them until you hear them needing to be changed or until you feel the brakes aren't as strong as they should be
But to be safe then yeah change get them but not at the STEALERship.

was just at the dealer yesterday, and saw the "front brake pads and rotor resurface" charge come up on their service menu screen, and almost shot coffee through my nose. over $500 ...
i think it was close to $200 for power steering fluid, which i did myself by stealing my wife's turkey baster (with her permission of course
), a bottle of fluid, and 5 minutes of my time.

To the naysayers, it's a car site. Folks should know the difference between break and brake. My issue is with the op's spelling, not grammar. In fact his grammar is quite good.

Help with my 2008 G35S - G35Driver
I'd be replacing if either of my front pads were as thick the thickest in the pic. For rear, if both pads were this thick, i'd leave as is but inspect often. The uneven wear is indicative of poor brake maintenance. The caliper is seizing on the slide pins - lack of lubrication, rust, etc. You can see one of the pads starting to crack in the 2nd pic.
