Ok so I plan on lowering my g37 coupé soon. I have 19s 245/35/19 in front and 265/30/19 in the rear so my car looks like of 4x4 right now lol. Anyways I plan on buying some Megan coilovers I'm not looking to spend too much money. This is how the car sits right now:



I wanna lower my car to a clean low...know what I mean? Like not slammed I wanna be able to clear speed bump and drive ways if that's even possible? How low can I go if I can do that? This is how close the car is from scraping from my driveway with stock suspension and my 19" wheels:

 

went with eibachs.. the hr was scrapin driveways and speed bumps particularly with passengers..

 

Looks like your plastic splash pan needs to be reattached in a few places, the front appears to be unbolted and the middle seems to be hanging low (which happens when you're missing the 3 to 4 snap clips that hold it tight).

As far as lowering, I have megan coils and even at the highest setting in the back the drop is pretty low. I'm at zero gap all around w/ my sedan on Megan LPs.
I'd recommend the Tein Basis Coilovers, they're around $600 to $630 and are a mild dropping coil which sounds like it would work well for you.

Yeah I'm not really looking into slamming the car, just a clean low. I was thinking about those tein coilovers. I'll check them out. I imagine I'm gonna need a camber kit if I drop it one inch?

The front may be ok or close to spec without a camber kit, the rear you'll probably need the kit, you can use the camber bolt/toe bolt setup for the back without the arms, this can be had for about $50 you need 2 kits (4 bolts total)

First of all, you need to fit the right size tires. Short tires only work well with 20's.

Once that is done, your car will sit better and will fill the fender gap a little which in turns allows for a moderate drop to set the car off nicely.

 

Well I went with the tein basis. I installed all of them...kinda lol. I broke the sway bar end link on the passenger side, ill get that tomrrow. Anyways heres the before and after picture from the first and only installed coilover:

Ill upload a full picture after i install the last coilover. I also ordered a motordyne exhaust, I hope i drop scrape the exhaust being this low.

 

Let me know what your alignment looks like when you get it done. Did you use the stock A Arms? Did you get camber bolts?

Im looking at doing this soon and am deciding between the Tein Street Basis coils or Eibach springs.

 

Looks good, the Teins aren't a coilover that you should slam, up to a 2" drop is about as low as you should go for max life and best damping, looks like you're about 2".
Nice job, and breaking end links when lowering isn't uncommon (ask me how I know, lol).
BTW, love those wheels, very nice choice there!

 

I used stock everything I didn't get any camber bolts. i think I might have to get camber bolts, not sure. I'll take pictures when the car is complete. Hopefully my end link gets here before night time. Thanks I love the wheels too ��

 

I would definitely invest in the rear camber bolt/toe bolt kit at the minimum, this will get your rear camber & toe in spec.
Since you can adjust toe fully in front all that would be out would be front camber, and should still get decent tire wear in front if you don't drop too low.

 

Please put the stock rims back on and do not lower.

Minority opinion around here lol. Lower is almost always better.

 

Is the performance gain really worth the chance of damage ? (esp if you don't track or auto-X and just daily drive)
I feel like it's already pretty low stock. I find myself always careful when parking and going over speed bumps and exiting parking lots into the main street.
It rained pretty bad last weekend and if I wasn't on point I could have flooded my car.
I actually almost got stuck 3 times.
I counted about 20-30 cars that had to get towed away (none were sports cars --- just normal economy and sedans so not even as low as I am).

Perhaps it's aesthetics and people want to get rid of wheel gap?

 

Yeah, thats it. Wheel gap looks atrocious.

My old GTI was pretty low as well, less than 2 finger wheel gap all the way around on 17's. I had a front lip on it too. In the winter I could use it as a snow plow lol.
