I just upgraded the stock 18s to a new set of 19 wheels and tires on my 09 G37xS sport sedan, and would love to drop my car just slightly (maybe 0.5-0.75 inch) just to add to the overall stance.

However, I've read missed reviews when it comes to lowering AWDs due to messaging up the all-wheel drive system, loss of performance, ride comfort, cornering etc. And I refuse to make any performance sacrifices for looks. So my question remains, is there any clever way of just slightly dropping my car without the use of coils or lowering springs? Or any other way of improving my stance or reducing wheel gap without sacrificing on performance on any end?

For a mild drop just get the Swift Springs. Relatively inexpensive and does not hinder performance or the AWD. I have the same vehicle and also new 19inch Avant Garde wheels and springs with sway bars does wonders with the handling of the car.

 

So you added swift springs and sway bars and have had good experience with it? What was the drop you were able to receive without loss in performance?

2012 g37x sedan, swift springs, hotchki sways, and 20 inch stance wheels. You're going to sacrifice a bit of comfort but in my opinion it's well worth it. My install order was sways (big improvement in handling bit of a "rougher ride"), lowered a month later (slight further improvement in handling little more "rougher ride"), 20's a month or 2 later (better grip, feel those bumps a little more than 18's lol). So what I'm saying is each component you modify on suspension is give and take... I'm quite happy with the ride and handling, however you might hate it, my ride got progressively a bit rougher however the trade off on handling improvements were well worth it!!! Lowering your X sedan won't hinder performance or hurt the AWD system. If you want to go lower and get a good ride you need coilovers. Swift springs are great from everything I've read, but paired with stock shocks you won't get the best ride possible. I have my suspension completely setup, check my sig. This combo rides excellent, smooth over bumps and handles incredibly well. If you do go with Fortunes request the 8" rear springs so you can have better adjustability and raise it to near stock height if you so desire. I hope this is helpful. But rest assured your car will be reliable and perform very well even if you lower it.
