Coilovers for everyday driving
I just got my car recently and I'm looking for a set of coilovers but i find it hard coming from a rear wheel drive car. I don't need any kind of special coilover for track use but more so everyday driving. Looking to stay under the $1000 range if any vendors or people with more experience can help me out i would appreciate it. Thanks
So you have the AWD X I assume? If so, your choices are limited. KSport seem to be the only ones that haven't had any noise related issues, maybe because they're a true coilover setup rather than the OEM separate rear shock/spring configuration.
I'm in the same situation with my 2012 G37xs sedan. I was hoping that the new fortune auto coilovers were going to be the coils to buy. The reviews I've been reading have been saying there having noise issues like BC's etc...
I'm just looking for a set of DD coils for an "X" model that don't make any noise.

I've read that the fortune auto coils have the same clunking issues that BC coils have?..

Agree. I am one that believes that doing coilovers on the cheap will not give satisfying results. Might as well do it right once or not at all. Or buy quality stuff used.

I have only heard a couple of people with noises, however it seemed that they were resolved and were just the result of the installation. I had these coilovers and never had any of those noises.

Just put on my Fortune Auto coils - so far no noise issues, hopefully it stays that way. Dropped about 1.5". Rides like a dream. I hated the soft, bouncy, body rolling ride that comes stock with these cars. Stays flat as can be now, obviously less forgiving over bumps, but that comes with the territory. Not at all uncomfortable as a DD, but the roads here are also pretty good, so maybe I'm not the best reference.
But yes, they're going to set you back a pretty penny. My set was over $1k and I bought lightly used from a member here...

I'm just looking for a mild 1" drop this time around with a set of coils so I can raise them back come winter time, that have no knocking noises or any bone jarring feelings over bumps in the road when I'm out for a cruise.

I've had my fortune coils on for several months. I lowered my car about 1.75" in the front and 1.5" in the rear. The ride is awesome, I have Hotchkiss sways, SPC camber kits and Cusco STB and the ride is compliant and controlled. Handling is dynamic with very good feedback. I get very minor squeaking which may be the camber arm bushings or sway bushings. It's so minor I don't care at all. With the music off and windows down you can barely hear anything and only when you're going slow (25mph and under).
I'd highly recommend the Fortune's with the swift springs. Make sure you ask for the 8" rear springs if you only want to lower your car 1". If you don't ask for them they will send you 7" rear spring and your car will be dropped a little more than that and that's if you raise the spring perch to the top.

I got rid of my car, but was very happy with the Fortune Auto coilovers. A million times better than Swift lowering springs with stock struts.
