Nice to see some other brake options, and thanks for the writeup. I just did an Akebono upgrade on my car, and am curious how this compared cost-wise to an Akebono upgrade?

Love the look, goes well with your evil blacked out theme!

I plan to do a little tracking next spring, there's a track 3 hours away that can be rented for about $600/day w/ a 6 car max, I've already got 5 other guys ready to go
FWIW I mainly did this for the looks since my OEMs were chipping, and the rotors are puny, and when you see Hyundais and Buick Regals w/ Brembos it's a bit humbling
But it's nice to know I can get on these brakes when the time comes and not worry about much fade.
Just pray they don't dust like the Stoptech Street Pads My wheels look like a lazy BMW owner's wheels.

They look great, the calipers do look considerably smaller than the Akebonos. Do use tire shine? I think it'd help the appearance of your already sweet ride!

Looks great. Did you do fronts and rears?

I priced out a front and rear setup of Wilwood 4 pots (not the Superlites, but a complete kit) and it was close to $2800.

I love the look of a BBK, but it is hard to justify the cost just for an aesthetic mod (I would never track the car, so a BBK would really be overkill for me).

My previous setup had Stoptech pads, I wasn't too concerned w/ the dust for the tradeoff in bite but w/ lighter colored wheels I'd probably have a different opinion.

The calipers have a similar footprint w/ the Akebonos and are about the same length, Akebonos are quite a bit wider and taller though. The bridge on the Wilwoods just unbolts and the pads can be changed in about 60 seconds, pretty handy when switching to track duty.

Apreciate the kind words too!
I'll update this thread w/ info on how well the pads do in regards to dust and pad life.

I sourced the calipers, rotors, and lines separately and machined my own brackets out of 1/2" T6 Aluminum so the cost was pretty close to Akebonos.

Same bias as OEM front calipers so pedal travel is identical. Very impressive performance under bed-in. My small journey calipers started to fade after the 5th cycle, these stayed solid all the way through the tenth and final cycle. Rotors got so hot it bubbled the caliper paint that I shot them with

The superlight pads are a whopping .8" thick so they do a nice job isolating the heat from the calipers, calipers were relatively cool after the bed-in. The Superlites have a huge assortment of pad compounds too, something for every application.

Another plus w/ the Wilwoods is wheel clearance, I still have about 3mm clearance where I would have needed about a 10mm spacer to run the Akebonos.

Rears will be in the near future (at least that's the plan, lol)

And again, my hillbilly rolling shot

Just beautiful and absolutely unique! Congrats

That looks great.

I would love it if it would clear G35s sedan 18" sports rim without spacer ...

I am still ok with the sports brakes from G35s with light track duty. But then, you can never have too much brakes.

Thanks!
They do have more clearance than the Akebonos, so maybe

Yeah, I went w/ the slotted/drilled just to add a bit of zing to my base brakes, but I've come around to appreciate that sometimes less is actually more
