Touchy brakes, over sensitive

The brakes on my 10 G37S I just got are REALLY touchy. Just a light tap on the pedal results in a very aggressive stop. I am finding it hard to drive in traffic. Anything I can check or adjust to help this? The pads have life & the rotors seem ok. No idea on what brands they are. They are not warped. no weird noises or pulling. I tried to bed them in using the procedures I have have used on performance brakes in the past. Felt better for a few days then back to the twitchy pedal.

Thanks

Never heard of this as a bad thing... I rather have touchy brakes than brakes I have to slam on...... but that's just me ... Just get used to it and you'll learn to appreciate it

The 6 pistons I had on my previous car were not like this & they stopped far shorter then this car does.

At what speed/s is this occurring? Sounds like maybe the pads might have been soaked in some oil or other liquid and causes them to be very grabby. This is very similar to what can happen to a clutch disc if it gets oily from a leaking rear engine or tranny seal or even brake fluid. Also check to make sure that the brake system itself is operating correctly and all parts have been assembled as they should be. I know that in some cars I've driven the brakes would seem very touchy until you heated them up after driving awhile. Then they would work fine as long as you drove. Let the car cool down overnight and they would get grabby again. It seems that the pads for some reason would soak up a lot of moisture from the humidity in the air and that would make them grabby until they heated up and pushed out the moisture in the pad. Cheap after market pads are more prone to this. Good luck on trying to figure this out.

Yeah It must be the pads. I took a hard drive on the brakes & after they heated up hot they were much more predictiable in feel. They are grabby more in normal day to day driving. Coming to stop lights & stop signs, traffic, that sort of thing.

Try using a set of Hawk HPS pads for normal street use. Very easy on the rotors, stops like an anchor if you need to, but you can easily modulate them if you want smooth slow stops. Great pads for the street and autocross. If you track the car then you can go with the HP+ pads which can deal with the heat better. Still not too bad for the street if you want but it sounds like your not doing that. Good luck.
