Thanks for the reminder. I need to do it because I don't trust my dealer to do it right. Maybe one of these days I'll just rent a lift and get everything done.

I bled my brakes once, and just made sure the fluid coming out was clear, roughly ~3 pumps per bleeder.
Some people rotate fluid. Gtr fluid is clear, motul 600 is amber, super blue is blue etc.

I just put clear hose on the bleeders, put them into a bottle, and crack them and let gravity do its thing. Just sit back and watch the reservoir. If keeping the same fluid I think its pretty easy to tell a different shade of old vs new.

I have had my current car one year and have flushed the system twice due to running in DE events. I wouldn't do it that often otherwise.

How many bottles of DOT 5.1 do I need to perform this service? Does anyone have a link for a good bleeder to buy? Or do local places rent one?

2 pints is probably enough, but I'd suggest getting 3 to be sure. Motive power bleeder (0107) is what you need. Amazon will have one of the cheapest prices.

Thanks. I went with the Motive 0117 kit which looks identical. I got the recommendation from a 370z member. Will I be alright?

Yes. That's actually the one I meant. The 0117 has a black label and an metal cap rather then the red label and the plastic cap. Not a huge price difference either.

Since the 370Z brakes are identical to our brakes' hardware and system in every way, here's this helpful video of how to use the Power Bleeder.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but I read you cant mix brake fluid 5.1 with others. Dot 3 and Dot 4 mix is fine.

Correct. It is completely different and cannot be mixed. Just use DOT 3 or DOT 4. That's all you need.
