Vague rear end handling

I've had my 2009 G37S 6MT for about 3 months. I've been noticing lately that the rear end seems to not be very crisp while turning under power. Straight ahead it is fine. When I am turning and not on the gas (or easy on the gas) it seems fine. But when I am on the gas while I am turning the rear end seems very vague. I feel like the rear is loose (but not that the wheels are breaking loose). It feels like the rear end is independent( like I'm driving a fire engine or as if there was 4 wheel steering). I don't remember it bring like this when I first got it. Anybody else experience this? Is it related to the VSC?

Could be worn tires or possibly an alignment issue if you jacked it on a pothole or something.

Tires are new. Maybe I'll run it in for an alignment check. Thanks

If the tires are new are they the same tire type w/ a similar treadwear rating?
If the compound is harder w/ a higher treadwear rating the tire may very well be feeling loose back there if your old tires were of a softer compound w/ better grip. Was this problem happening before you got your new tires or was it happening after you installed the new treads?

Shocks or bushings breaking in maybe, or just getting used to the vehicle and wanting more now?

Well, I notice something with mine when turning sharp corners with too much power (but not enough to break the tires loose and trigger the traction control) - it feels like the limited slip differential is trying to push power to both rear tires causing a bit of scrubbing. It was a bit strange to me initially (coming from an xS that does nothing of the sort) but the more I drive the car the more convinced I am that this is what is going on.

I'd be impressed to hear the LSD gets that much lock but maybe im blinded by the envy that it's near impossible to install on an x.

On mine I only notice it when I am applying a lot of power (maybe half throttle), and a fairly sharp turn (say, a left turn accelerating from a stop). Same thing if accelerating out of a turn, like you would on a race track.

I didn't even know it was an option. I bought mine used so I don't have a window sticker to go off of but that would make sense. That is exactly the feeling I get, like a fire engine, that the rear wheels are turning opposite allowing the rear end to "roll" around turns. Thanks. I will check into this

4WAS light does not come on when I start the car so I don't think I have it.

might try looking to see if your end links are going out. people with aftermarket sways have had their end links fail.

Like already suggested, it could just be the intrusion of the traction control system. I notice that if I take certain tight turns, quickly, but not quickly enough to really slide the rear out, the system kicks in and the sensation is rather weird.

At 6000 miles on my 2013 Journey RWD I can say the rear end feel on this car is the polar opposite of what the typical German car feels like. It's a preference thing, but I bet most would like a more planted feel. Maybe time will instill more confidence?
