ok i understand this may not be the right section to post this, but i'd like if someone could tell me what brakes these are for my car is a g37x coupe and i believe either i was sent the wrong ones or mt car has different parts on it..anyways ill post some pics of what they sent me if someone can identify what these are for the ones they sent me are the powerstop ones

Looks like you got sedan pads. Happened to me, too.

 

thanks for the reply....did they send you sedan rotors as well? and is this problem for the rear or just the front?

 

just the front and I suspect the rotors are the same, but I just had mine turned instead of replacing. Good luck!

 

so i can go get them cut and be fine? how much should i take off? and it doenst matter that there slotted and drilled?...sorry for all the newb questions you just dont know what i went threw today lol

 

I know it's a pain and you'd be without your car for a few days but they obviously sent you the wrong parts, they need to make it right. You spent some good coin for a brake upgrade and you want the correct parts, especially something as important as your brakes.
There seems to be a problem unique to G37X coupes where the brake part# info is not well defined, from the few places I checked it's not very definitive and I could see where it would be easy to have the wrong parts ordered, or the shop sending the wrong parts

 

Plus one for that, I had to have a pic sent to me from Stillen on the different pads and rotors , Seems I have non X Coupe rotors on the car??

 

It is definitely possible to turn drilled/slotted rotors.

A lot of shops will not turn them for fear of damaging the cutting bit and/or destroying the rotor. The secret is to take several small cuts removing 2-4/1000s each cut rather than a large cut and a finish cut.

Takes more time but better shops will do it.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

 

It's possible but IMO cutting brand new rotors & shortening their lifespan and probably voiding any warranty that came with them wouldn't be a good plan, the rotors might not even be the correct diameter since the pads were wrong.

OP, I'd just slap your old rotors & pads back on to get you down the road for a few days (unless your pads are scraping the rotor or something) while the vendor gets you the right parts. You'll have piece of mind knowing the correct brakes are on your car, you'll get longer life out of them and could possibly prevent an issue that may arise from having the wrong brake parts on your car. Theres places where you can fudge a little w/ parts that may be "close" but brakes shouldn't be one of them.

 

I was just about to order new pads/rotors this week for my xcoupe! Going to do some more research now though....good luck OP!

 

??? Where did he say he was going to cut his new rotors? And why would he (or anyone) do that?

I think he said if he had his old ones turned he wouldn't need the new ones, which is good because they sent him the wrong new ones.

yeahh i ment get the new ones i ordered cut down a few mm so they actually fit my car,but i think im just going to have the correct ones shipped (if possible) it seems there is a big mix up with the 2009 g37x coupe brakes...can anyone confirm what hey are in the pics i posted?

 

LOL, I am keeping up, he mentioned the concern about cutting slotted/drilled rotors as that's what he upgraded to.

Wild_pea, good luck through all this, it's really a shame there's such a mystery regarding the correct fit for the G37X coupe, sure hope you get the right parts and hopefully you won't be on the hook for much of the return.

 

Speaking of brakes, how do you take of the front rotors (G37x sedan). Do you need a special tool to get them off?? Thanks for the help!!

 

well if its the same as my coupe there is 2 bolts behind the caliper and you slide the caliper off...then you can just take off the rotor,that is if its the same as my x coupe.

thanks! out of all the cars i've modded this is honestly the biggest "snag" (that i can think of) i've ran into,thanks again im sure it will be resolved soon tho, autoanything's cust support seems pretty good thus far.
