Question Cusco FSTB Part Number

The Cusco USA website lists two front strut tower bars for the G37. I've searched around on the forum, and I haven't seen anyone mention anything about a choice of Cusco bars, only that Cusco makes "a" bar. Can anyone elaborate on this? Much appreciated!

Vehicle Results

Type HB
Part Number: 288 542 A
MSRP: $240
Hybrid shaft, aluminum w/ shock absorbing bushings

Type OS
Part Number: 288 540 A
MSRP: $200
Aluminum, oval shape bar

Hmmm that's odd. I see the PN on their site but if you Google it, it doesn't exist. I even checked my Cusco price sheet and that PN doesn't exist on their either. I might hit up Yuki at Cusco and see if this is a brand new product or something.

UPDATE: Talked to yuki. This is a NEW strut bar with the hybrid style cross bar. So same thing just with a different cross bar. ETA 6-8 weeks

Oh ok, cool. Thanks for looking into it. I just started researching tower braces and I am leaning toward the Cusco. I'm glad I asked first! I can't wait to see how the new one compares to the original version.

I'm guessing he meant 6-8 weeks until available for purchase, but can you find out if they have any detailed product images for comparison? I'm curious to know if it looks/fits any different compared to the original version. And what does hybrid style cross bar mean exactly? Different material? Thanks.

Nice, thanks. Maybe it's just me, but it looks thicker and not as wide as the original from that angle. I hope that doesn't affect clearance with the hood liner. I guess we'll find out. So no info on what hybrid meant?

Yes that's correct! Thicker and more narrow. I think hybrid meaning its more of mix of two other bar types.

Ah, ok. Hmm... I guess we'll see how it compares. I'm still wondering about the clearance though.

Yeah, especially since the size/shape will be more like the GTSPEC.

Lightbulb Found these...

Hybrid Strut Braces is coming soon! Parts & Products English page CUSCO

CUSCO Hybrid Strut Bar - Front Brace V36 Skyline

So... apparently, they IS coming! The pictures from the second site look like the Type OS bar... and based on the Cusco page, it sounds like you can just swap the new bar on the same mounts if you already have the Type OS installed. Maybe it'll have the same fit after all...

Hump Day Bump!

Well... it's been 6-8 weeks... According to BluestickG's POC at CUSCO, the new brace should be available soon... Can any forum vendors chime in with any information regarding this part?

CUSCO FSTB Type HB Hybrid shaft, aluminum w/ shock absorbing bushings... P/N 288 542 A

Thanks!
