I'm still waiting for the someone to post some useful information, again this thread is a how in the world did "he remove the sways with no ill effects and do they make that much of a difference in our cars" thread. I know what sway bars do for the most part but still find it hard to believe how most of you say it's borderline insane to remove but then how is it that his car drives straight? This is why I was stating I really think they play more of a roll in cornering than actually regular daily driving or straight line etc.. Obviously it can't be as much as stated if it doesn't seem to affect much. Just couldn't see how really.

Oh and btw, I've noticed the haters in these forums. Hey if he wants to do it more power to him, but really guys stop jumping the band wagon and give post something not as robotic as the last person.

this statement right here just proves how, and i'm sorry, stupid this sounds.

and you're going to be waiting a while to see some regarding your question. as i'm sure, no one would even think about it, attempt it, or have given removing a suspension part to save weight a second thought. and why are you attempting to save weight in the first place? cuzracecar?

i'm with betty on this one. do it, then report back to us after some spirited driving...and not only in a straight line. i'd be curious to find out if you wreck your car or not.

Drive your car anywhere there are curves both right and left. Remove the sway bars and drive the same place. I can promise you that you will feel quite a difference. If you were only driving a quarter mile down a perfectly straight, perfectly smooth drag strip you'd be fine. Turning at speed will be a completely different experience.
and.....i would think regarding your question, the above is probably the most useful information anyone will give you.

there are no stupid questions....but this one, and i think everyone would agree, is pretty silly.

Rad_Slinger who said I wanted to remove my sways? I stated in a post I wasn't going to remove them. I actually started this thread because I was looking for useful info, not assumptions and guesses or bashing on someone I know who isn't here to defend them selfs which is kinda lame. I simply wanted this to be an informative thread about how they work and the function behind them. I was thinking of getting aftermarket sways btw, but after seeing him REMOVE them with Ill effect I was in disbelieve. You guys could be right I need to see some more aggressive driving most likely. Anyhow again I started the thread for good info but mainly got bashing, you guys can understand I'm sure. And btw I searched but no thread could be found about info on the main function or reasons to upgrade etc...

Leave the sways.

Remove the spare tire and back seat. (seriously)

You can probably also save considerable weight by removing the speakers too.

Yeah I'm all for losing weight but not too lose comfort or performance, back seat yeah but I can't loose my music. I do know removing the weight helps, my buddy who removed all the weight 300 as he stated consistently pulled on me and another g37 and we were all stock at the time. Not by a big margin but he would pull.

I wonder how bouncy your buddies ride must be. Seriously though if you're looking to shave some weight off the G you could take out the amp, speakers, rear seats, spare, jack, etc. If you really want to become more efficient look at replacing the wheels with lighter ones, flywheel/clutch, light weight drive shaft. You'll find that removing rotational mass will benefit more than removing sways.

Yeah I just got a carbon fiber driveshaft so that's very true.

Because a G isn't a Z, much sexier and vise versa to some. But if I was about saving weight to that extreme than I could understand getting a Z.

I know, but if your concern was to shed weight, why start with a heavy 4 seater and go to a 2 seater by compromising safety and luxury when you could've just started with a lighter and cheaper 2 seater in the first place.

I totally agree with you, but some people actually go for the look of the car more than performance like i did. The G to me looks much better with the right exterior set up than a Z would. And I started the thread for a better explanation on our sways bars, I have no intentions on removing them, I don't mind a heavy G
