What's this thing on top of the strut?

Today I installed swift springs on my 12 g37 xs, but I forgot to reinstall the pink paper thing on top of the OEM struct(see picture below). I wonder what is it and what does it do. I hope it won't do any damge. Sorry if I am being paranoid.

Thanks!

It will work perfectly without it. However if it makes a really annoying noise (it may not) you'll want to go back in to install it.

And every one of those I've ever seen on any Nissan/Infiniti is orange, not pink.

I've kept in the glove box. I'll be sure to put it back it when I swap out the stock shocks. So far I haven't heard any noise yet, phew!

It's possible, could also be your upper camber arm bushings, or spring binding, or the strut itself, lots of moving parts in that area so just a process of elimination

Probably just the gasket, had a friend lift the car and rock it a bit. Sounded like the noise was coming right from the area if the gasket. What's the name of it? Wanted to drop by Infiniti and pick one up real quick in the morning.

Any idea where to get one in person? Need one tomorrow morning. The Infiniti dealers in DFW don't have them in stock. Should I check with Nissan (350z or 370z)? What about an autoparts store? Maybe I should get one not made specifically for the G37.
