Installing Springs
I am looking to purchase a set of springs, most likely eibachs or swifts and I wanted to know about how much does it cost to install them including labor etc. Also, after installation do you have to get an alignment or anything else? Don't know much about dropping the car so I'm just trying to figure out a final price. Thanks guys

The rears are easy to change and shouldn't take a quality shop more than 15 minutes each. The front will need a spring compressor and there are some tough bolts to deal with. I believe I spent $150 for the install but that may be on the higher end.
I'm looking into getting new springs installed on my G and I called a few places and the prices that I was quotes were anywhere from 340-400. But I called tire shops to try to get this done at the same time I get new tires put on, but was still quoted about 340 because they said it would take 4 hours plus the alignment. I: really hope thats not how much it normally costs, I may just forgo it if that is the case.

The toughest nut was the front strutk nut on the bottom. spray some lub and i used a 1/2 with a breaker bar.If you have a impact you should be good.
Then there compressing the springs. I did it partial with a cordless impact,but ran out of juice. Then it was all done by hand.Its a pain in the ***.
Just make sure you align the strut hub or it wont mount correctly. I also used the impact for the top strut nut.
The rear is simple took me 30 for both sides. NO BS

Yang88she you should be in the ball park there. The rears should take any good shop about 1/2 hour while the fronts around 1 - 1 1/2 max. That's 2 hours roughly and at $100 an hour that's about $200 or so. Any more than that and they're screwing around with you. Have them save all your old parts in case you want to go back to stock when and if you sell. By the way, sway bars can easily be done at home on jack stands in about 1 - 1/2 hours for both bars no matter what bars you use. Again put the settings to the middle on the bars as a start. Adjust from there after you get use to the new car setup. Also wait for the car to settle a little on the new springs and bars before you get an alignment. Yes they will settle a little so wait around a month or so and then get the alignment. Good luck.

Calling around to 4-5 places and they all quoted me $400+ to install springs (labor only). The 2 places that provided more info on the job said the REARS are the difficult and time-consuming part. Brake Specialists said their database called for 2.5hrs for the rear springs alone!?!? 1.5hrs for the front springs.

I'm with RKS on this. Where are they getting 2.5 hoursr to change out the rear springs? I did mine on jack stands using a normal floor jack in a little more than 1/2 hour with no special tools. Unless his "G" has some special suspension setup I'm not aware of, or he's doing more than just changing out the springs, 2.5 hours is way too much time. Hell the mechanic can go to lunch and come back and still have time to spare.
The fronts should take around 1.5 hours mainly because of the special spring compressor tool they need to use. Remember people most of these shops are using special tools, like pneumatic air tools, and they are on a lift, not their backs. $200-$225 is a fair price for this work unless the shop rate is way above $100 an hour and they are sleeping in between each spring install.
