I don't know what the hell this noise is but it just started on the drivers side. When I apply light braking I get an intermittent squeak/creaking noise. When I press the brake harder the noise goes away, but it sounds terrible during light braking. If I recall correctly it seemed to have started after using the parking brake one time.

I am going to take the wheel off this weekend to see what the hell it is but I am just checking to see someone else has had a similar issue. The car has 3000 miles on it....which is quite annoying.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Well I took the wheel off today and looked around and inside the wheel hub there was a black piece of plastic that looks like it should or should have not been there. I mean it was so fragile and shredded up. I thought no way was that making the noise.....well after looking around and trying to simulate the noise, I put the wheel back on. Drove around....noise gone.

So I have 2 ideas. In terms of the shredded black piece of plastic that you found on the inside of your wheel hub, it could've been a hubcentric ring. This can only be the case, though, if you have aftermarket wheels. If you do have non-OE wheels, I would definitely replace the rest of your wheel's plastic hubcentric rings with metal ones. The best (and cheapest) place to buy them is from discounttiredirect.com. If you need to find out the outer diameter of the wheel's hub bores, it can easily be found online.

My second theory is a simple one: loose lug nuts. In theory, though, if they were loose, you would've noticed the noise and some rather serious vibrations whenever the car would coast in addition to the noise you noticed when lightly applying the brakes.

 

thank you sir....i will look further into this. I have aftermarket wheels. Not loose lug nuts...they were tight when i took them off.

 

Are you still running the IPL G wheels? If you are, you don't need hubcentric rings since that's an O.E. Nissan/Infiniti wheel. Can you take a picture of the black plastic piece that you found?
