You can use G2 paint, I just got mine in, just waiting for the weather to warm up a bit. A friend has used it on several vehicles and it works perfect. The kit includes a can of cleaner, the paint and the reactive, as well as the necessary brush. They also have many colors to choose from. Follow the instructions closely, that is very powerful paint and it only has a 4 month shelf life.

My body/paint shop told me painting was the way to go. He quoted me like $800 (
expensive but good quality work) for all 4 of my calipers I am planning to go a dark metallic shade of red and said painting gives you more colors and lasts longer if not as long as a good powder coat.

I asked him about the brake dust and temperature concerns and he said it was no worry and I should be fine.

Is there something I am missing or should be worried about? I will be taking my car to them in the next few weeks to get some other stuff done as well.

Thanks.

Yea I thought it was a lot too they charge like $65/hour for paint labor but they guarantee it so if the color like fades/peels its covered free of charge (minus my time ofc)

would those g2 caliper paint kits be good? then my shop would only charge me for labor insated of for labor and paint?

Kinda disappointed I can't really see the coloring in person though - internet pics are only so good :/.

That G2 caliper paint is actually quite good if you know what your doing. Its not any old paint either, its an epoxy. The processes takes some time for sure, but the results are an excellent alternative to powder coating, which can have its own issues when it comes to high heat. I did a set of Evolution Calipers back in the day and they came out great. Also, they still look good after 3 years of abuse.

- Strip Calipers of all components
- Sand blasted calipers to bare Al, rough surface. Be sure to protect piston bores and passages
- Cleaned very well with solvent to remove all oil, or any remaining blast media
- Mixed up 1/2 of the G2 paint/epoxy and apply THIN light coat to calipers using supplied brush
- Allow 10-15min cure time between coats, at first it will look like its so thin the metal shows through but dont worry
- Get a good 10-12 coats on and let it cure for at least 1hr
- Mix up the rest of the paint/epoxy and continue to apply coats until you achieve a nice, glossy, smooth finish
- Apply high temp decal or custom logo
- Assemble components and enjoy!

I ended up doing my rotors and calipers. Some people might thing that is too much, but I love how it turned out.

Painted mine. Holds up fine. Ian's are painted too. They hold up fine. Been over a year already. Both sets are done with PPG paint.

Edit: Also throwing in my buddy's Sedan. Painted his too. PPG paint, once again. And I'll also add that we didn't pay anywhere near $800...

Mine - Brembo

Ian's - Akebono

Gabe's Sedan - Brembo
