So-So Sport Brakes

So I've had my 2012 G37XS for about a week, and am quite disappointed with the four piston sport brakes. My former Merc Benz had them, and the wife's current car has them. Both of them were/are tight, grippy and super responsive. The new G's are no better than regular brakes, with a fair amount of pedal travel and average grip. Perhaps the dealer needs to adjust/bleed them? Perhaps sitting in inventory had a negative effect on them?

Personally, I think these brakes are HUGE and have great bite initially. That can be very short lived though once they heat up a bit. I think a lot of people have had the same problems I did with warping rotors/brake modulation due to pads etc., and that was on an S coupe. Yours is even a couple hundred pounds heavier than my Coupe so I'm sure they're not as great on your car. I swapped for stoptech slotted rotors, hawk pads, and SS lines and it was a pretty big difference.

Could be that they aren't bedded in as noted above. My biggest issue is not enough traction.

Agreed, My 2012 G37S Coupe brakes were initially fairly soft, but after spending some time to break them in I find them to be much much more responsive. They are definitely traction limited.

um, the x2 does NOT come with 4 piston calipers. it has the normal 12" rotor and sliding caliper. none of the X series of nissans have them (other than the FX56)

Um, the 2012 G37X sport coupe most certainly does come with 14" sport brakes.

And the crowd goes silent....

They are ok. Not better than my Brembos on my previous G. I did just upgrade to slotted rotors, ss lines, better pads and they are better than before. I have a poker run in 2 weeks so they will get a good test that day.

well hot damn. wish my xS sedan had come with them. guess they changed that for the coupe. pads will be the biggest upgrade if you are not pleased with the stock setup.

Yeah, thinking about a pad swap. But will that solve the excessive pedal travel?
